AT&T Note 4 with Android Lolipop (hasn't gotten KK update yet).

Recently I started getting this "Phone Boosted" popup message. It appears sporatically but nearly every time I'm using the device. Sometimes it's there when I turn the screen on...sometimes it appears when I'm using an app.

I didn't change anything that I'm aware of.
I did a factory reset on my phone and only downloaded known apps. Still there.

I can't find anything on the internet about it either. HELP!!!

Here it is popped up when I first turned on my phone:

Do you have Clean Master or any other app from Cheetah Mobile installed? If you do it could be the cause. Recommend that you uninstall them.

Samsung Note 4 does come with a version of Clean Master, as do most recent Samsungs. Suggest disabling it. You'll find it in, apps > all > "Cheetah Mobile Clean Master SDK"

Samsung calls it Smart Manager on their phone and tablets.

Cheetah mobile is no fun sometimes... if you use clean master, and disabling it seems like youll lose something, get CCleaner, its way better anyways...

CCleaner is made by the same folks, and they sell your info to China.....
I won't have anything to do with Cheetah Mobile.

You don't need cleaner apps anyway, that is a myth.

The OP needs to uninstall the app, or use * Package Disabler Pro [Samsung] - the New Version

    to disable it altogether.

No, they are not.... Cheetah Mobile makes Clean Master (I agree to avoid anything by this company, including QuickPix, which used to be great....) and they are located in The Peoples Republic of China.

CCleaner is made by Piriform, the same company that makes the Windows app. They are located in England.... Never had any issues with them....

Ccleaner is much better, and DOES hold value. Android garbage collection doesnt do everything... cache files ect are annoying as well as download folders game files you dont use anymore (and are sometimes hard to find to delete yourself) ccleaner is actually pretty good

Indeed, Ccleaner and Clean Master are absolutely NOT the same thing. I've used and recommended Piriform's PC product for a long time, and Recuva as well, also by Piriform.

What the OP's got looks very much like Samsung version Clean Master, aka Smart Manager.

Same prob. The issue is a "feature" added by Back Button by Robust programmer inc App in a recent update. You can turn it off in settings.

Obvious now I guess since this Back button already had access to draw over other Apps.

Seems harmless (might even be useful) but great way to p**s off your users fools

I think the phrase "Phone Boosted" would push my BS detector into overload by itself.

Since that message is accompanied by a RAM usage statistic the implication is that this is a RAM cleaner, aka a task killer. As such it definitely comes into the "snake oil" category, since it's merely interfering with the OS's own process management, and will be counter-productive rather than harmless or useful. Turn it off or delete the app would be my advice.

Found it. The culprit is an app called Back Button. It puts an on-screen back button and is used in playing a different game from this device.

Phone Boosted is a setting / feature. I suspect it doesn't actually do anything though....other than maybe slow things down a bit.

I realized this by seeing the negative reviews fur the app in the play store and the response from the dev that it can be switched off in the app settings.

All fixed up. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
