So when I am swyping many times I will be tracing a word and without lifting my finger it will put in a word, and then another it is very annoying. Anyone have this issue and have any idea how to make it better? This seems to happen quite often and it is driving me nuts I never had this issue with my dinc.

I had the same issue...ended up switching to the ICS keyboard. Swype on the nexus was excellent..not so much on the rezound. For the record, the layout of swype was different from the swype I was using on the nexus(different version?). Hope a nice version of swype comes out!!

Yeah, discussed in XDA too. Hope they roll out a fix soon. It hasn't actually bitten me lately, but I assume the problem still exists.

You could also try SlideIt, which is similar.

I haven't had a problem with Swype doing that, but with Angry Birds I find that the app will pause itself spontaneously. I have a screen protector AND an Otterbox, and it makes me wonder if there's an issue with those two together.

i have the same problem, and it happens pretty often. i had thought it was due to my low end screen protector, but if this is a problem identified by others, i guess it's the actual program. how unfortunate. i really love swype, i hope they roll out a fix. just when switching phones and re-downloading the program became so easy! sigh.

Just curious, what does Swype gain you over the stock keyboard since you can "swipe" on it as well? I've found it works really well and better than when I tried Swype on the Incredible. I actually am liking the stock keyboard. I was a Swiftkey X and I tried the ICS keyboard.

My question to those of you having this problem, which version of Swype are you using? After an annoying couple of months I think I pin-pointed it. Versions 3.25.xxxxx don't have this issue whereas 3.26+ do.

    I've got 3.26.92D.35381.to

Apparently you aren't using the stock keyboard. I just checked and I can't do anything that resembles swiping in the stock one.

The stock one is called trace. It only seems to work on texting and emails though and won't work in the web browser which is annoying. I switched over to SlideIt and it's working for me.

Good find. I'd be surprised if they didn't fix it quickly.

Weird, I didn't know it was there either. I've gone back and forth between a few different ones including SlideIt, but right now Swype seems to be the most accurate for me, even factoring in the occasional split word.

Didn't know it was there either. I'm going to give it a try.

Trace and SlideIT are nowhere near as accurate as Swype.

I've tweeted to Swype several times, and emailed them, with no real response.

There isn't much discussion of this on the Swype forums.

Perhaps when we get ICS, this will be fixed. I have no idea! Very very annoying for fast swypers.

People swyping at average speed don't always experience it. But if I go fast, I can make it happen every time.

It's as if I pick up my finger in the middle of the keyboard, and start a new word (which I don't!)

So those of you who are having problems...please check your Swype version number. If you're 3.26+...try downgrading to 3.25.xxxxx and see if it fixes your problem. It seems to have gone away for me.

From my understanding, with Swype 3.26, the keyboard is dynamically drawn on the screen meaning there are no longer any more hard-coded png files. This newer dynamic method makes it easier to maintain the keyboard to support various languages. My guess is that this change created the problem for our Rezounds.

I do not have any idea where to find a 720p 3.25 swype. I didn't know it existed! But, since the day I got my rezound and installed Swype, this problem has existed.

Does the WVGA version of Swype do this?

Don't use WVGA on Rezound. Check your PMs ;)

You're on a 3.26 version with absolutely no issues?

I tried the Trace and it was terrible. Accuracy is poor, and trying to correct a word is worse. It's nice as a basic function, but not for use full time use.

Well I got around to looking in the Swype forums, and apparently they've known about it for weeks but have no particular interest in fixing it for us:
I guess we're free to come to our own conclusions about a company that doesn't care whether their product -- free or not -- works well for their customers.

In that spirit, allow me to repost links to their competitors SlideIT Keyboard and SwiftKey X Keyboard.

Is this fixed for anybody with yesterday's update for ICS? I had it happen to me twice again immediately after installing the update, but I just gave it a good workout of a bunch of very fast long paragraphs and it was perfect.

FWIW, my beta version went from 37604 to 38303 with this upgrade.

I've had that happen when going fast but always assumed my finger lifted, making Swype think I was Swyping two words. It's not all that common that I experience it though.

They previously confirmed it's a hardware (or perhaps device driver) issue that they wouldn't commit to finding a workaround for, but as of today I still can't make it fail.
