Ok so I know there have been a couple threads on how to get RSD to work right on Windows 7 for those of us who it wouldn't work for. I've tried all of them, and none of them worked for me until I stumbled across this. It worked like a champ and was super simple. So I'm sharing it with you guys here in case any of you have the same problem I've had.
I take absolutely no credit for this, I'm just sharing the information I've found. This post was originally written by adrynalyne for (I believe) the OG Droid

So basically, right click on the RSD shortcut on your desktop, click the compatibility tab and check off "run this program as an administrator", apply it and hit ok
Rename your sbf file to 21.sbf (IDK why 21, but I did it and it worked for me) and place it on your D drive
click the start button on window (windows icon on bottom left of desktop) and in the "search programs and files" part type "cmd" (without the quotes obviously.
now, in your command prompt type "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\RSD Lite" (unless you've moved RSD to another location)
    now type "SDL.exe -f D:\21.sbf -t 2" (again, without the quotes)
At this point my computer asked me something (I believe it was if I wanted to let the computer run the program) just click yes
    now let the file flash.

Again, this was EXTREMELY simple. and again, credit for this goes to adrynalyne, I just found out that it also works for us on the Droid X (and couldn't be happier that now I can finally use RSD on my laptop!)
Good luck everyone and happy modding!

not everyone has a problem running RSD on Win 7 but for those of us that did it was a HUGE pain to try to get it to work.

It may have something to do with whether or not you have the 64 bit or 32 bit version. And it may be a situation whether or not you have admin permissions already (as in a situation where you do not share the computer with someone else...)

Why was this moved to tips and tricks?

I think this would be better suited for the Root sub-forum where it will be more likely viewed.

If you know how to undo the move, I don't have a problem with that. :D

this should honestly be a sticky in the Root Guide, but i can see why its in tips and tricks.

scratch that, it was already done

Sorry should have posted about putting it there yesterday. I thought I did but then realized I told Colchiro in a PM I put it there :p

haha, thanks for moving it to the right place and keeping it as a sticky in the root guide section. I see it as valid in both places so thats a perfect way to handle it :D

After a few weeks in the root forum it'd be lost. :D

By the way, Program Files (x86) is only valid for 64 bit versions of windows. Most people will have Program Files without the (x86), like:

    c:\Program Files\Motorola\RSD Lite\SDL.exe

I found a linux solution with a script for my rsd lite problem on a different forum. I wish I would have stumbled on this sooner.

edit: I've tried this method and it still didn't work for me.
