Rumor: DROID X Android 2.2 Update Launching 9/22?

On 09.20.10, In News, by KellexShare18

Another Droid X 2.2 rumor! The latest comes from level 2 Motorola support which normally would mean absolutely nothing, but when these service reps drop a few extra details in their conversations, sometimes they are worth at least a little mention. Here is what we’ve got…
We know that Verizon and Motorola have stood by a “late summer” release timeline which if we’re getting really technical, would mean they have 2-3 days left to drop this on us. What we also know is that the Droid X on 2.1 has some major exchange issues which caused Motorola to hook up DX business users with Touchdown licenses to pass the time until Android 2.2 is released. When you put these 2 together, this is where we get interested.
One of our readers, needing Touchdown, had to call Motorola after not receiving his free license. He was then told that Moto is out of Touchdown licenses and they are waiting until after the 2.2 update hits before they plan on replenishing license stock. And when did he expect the update to hit? September 22nd. The last day of summer. Two days from now.
Again, a rumor from tech support, so take it for what it’s worth.
On a related note, I can tell you that I’ve reached out to both Verizon and Motorola PR and received essentially the same answer. They are working on the update and expect it to be ready “soon.”
Rather than crossing fingers, let’s cross shoe strings or something? "

Why would they need to replenish the license if exchange is fixed?

Maybe the requisite question is how would they know that Exchange is "completely" fixed? Their test groups only have a limited amount of time to test. They likely can only test using a finite number of configurations. When you release to tens of thousands of handsets running with all sorts of different app's and settings you're bound to come across scenario's and configurations that you never thought of.

My guess is that replenishing their supply of licenses (which they probably get relatively cheap) would simply be a fall-back position in the event Exchange issues crop up

I have TD and it doesn't work on Froyo. it creates "UNKNOWN" links in 2.2 (NULL Links in 2.1).
Technically it works, but i had one contact that had 30 UNKNOWN links cause by TD.

As I have said all along. I will believe it when I see it. Until then my phone works perfectly well the way it is for what I need.
