I am trying to transfer files from my phone to my MacBook Pro. I have installed the Android File Transfer App and when I launch the app, I get a message that no device is connected. I have made sure that the phone is unlocked. I have removed the USB and reconnected it. I have also restarted my phone. However, when I plug my phone in, I her an audible ack from the phone and the battery is being charged (mechanical connection is good). I also get a message on my phone that there is no software on the Mac that can recognize the phone - please install Android File Transfer.

The Mac is on OS-X 10.11.1. The phone is a Galaxy Core Prime.

I doubt that this is a phone issue but I thought I would ask as this groups seems to be very resourceful.

JFalls63, Thank you. That was it. After I installed Kies3, I can now see my phone and transfer files with the Android File Transfer on the Mac. I am very surprised that Kies3 isn't mentioned in other things that I've read. Glad you knew about it.
