    Hey everyone,
I have a problem with answering in a car on a steering wheel via Bluetooth, but only with 3rd party apps, like Viber, WhatsApp, telegram...
I can normally answer when I receive regular gsm calls.
    Any hack/help about this?

so normal calls you can't answer thru the steering wheel via bluetooth? what happens when you try to answer? nothing? can they hear you or vice versa? what phone do you have? is the steering wheel the one you need to connect to? or is it connecting thru the radio(head unit) and then going to the steering wheel?

basically we need more details as to your problem. just remember, the more details you give us, the better we can help.

I took this to mean the opposite of @ocnbrze , in that I think OP means to say that normal cellular calls are answered via bluetooth with the steering wheel controls, but it is not working like that when apps are used.

This may have something to do with how the apps are considered by the bluetooth, and could be the phone and/or the vehicle equipment.

These apps are using cellular data for the calls, not like a typical cellular phone call.

So my guess is that the device and/or vehicle is considering such a data call as media instead of calling it a phone call.

I also use Telegram, as well as other calling apps- but I have never tried to make a call while in a car with them.
    Messaging, yes, but no calls.

This is in part due to the horrible data connection provided by T-Mobile.

Anyway, I would first look at the vehicle audio settings for something using the phone as a media source instead of as a phone when trying to use one of these apps for calls.

    Thanks for the replies :)
Yes, I can normally answer regular cellular calls, the problem is only at apps that are using internet connection for data transfer.
I assume that problem is with android because I can not answer either on Xiaomi or Samsung phones, with iPhone it is not a problem.

Hmm... If I listen to the radio and my phone is connected, when a Viber call arrives it automatically changes source in a car and starts to ring at car audio, same as a GSM call, the only difference is that I can't answer it. So I guess that car system partially recognizes call, not as media input?

I noticed that when I receive a GSM call, a real number that is calling me is displayed in-car media screen.
When I receive Viber/Whatsapp call number is only "1000000", on iPhone it displays the real number that is calling me on that (Viber/Whatsapp) app

maybe someone fixes this with MacroDroid?
