That article is correct about Anti Malware apps not being highly effective. But the thread that Eyebeam linked is quite informative.

There are no actual discovered 'viruses' for Android. But there are many apps that exploit security holes in app permissions. So, if you are observant about the app you're about to download, then you have no fears.
