I was told by the guy at VZW that Antivirus software like Lookout was bad to have on your phone. What do you guys think? Does anyone here use antivirus software?

With no know android virii in the wild, I would say any antivirus software is a joke right now.

With how fones are locked down, I would only worry with rooted phones.

I use Lookout, but I could care less about the antivirus. I use it mainly for backing up my stuff.

As my phone is not rooted, I suppose your right. Kinda pointless. I was more or less concerned about something being hidden in apps whether intentional or not.

I'm new to whole smart phone thing. Being a Windows tech for a good number of years I'm constantly preaching anti-virus and hate running apps taking up my processor. Just broke myself of the whole task killer thing. I'm learning that I need adopt a different mindset with this.

I wouldnt worry about it at all..

On Linux based machines, all anti virus software does is prevent you from forwarding virus's to Windows users..

You need not worry about anti-virus software on your mobile phone.

thats funny! i literally went to vzw today to see if they could fix my ota issues without doing a hard restart (which they couldn't) and the "service manager" said that the antivirus that they say is best is lookout.

i dont really use it for its virus protection i use it for backing up but still thought it was funny
  9. I've been using Trend Micro.. .Its great....But instead of letting people keep what they've invested in, after the license is up they disable the dat files so there is 0% protection after the expiration date. But i've never had a prob with viruses while using Trend Micro....
