Any free apps that will let me speed up podcast playback?

The podcast manager I use, BeyondPod, has no built in functionality to speed up podcast playback and instead uses third party plugins. The one it points to when you click the button costs $5. Is there anything free out there that can be utilized for this same function?

Yes, KiesCast allows you to play podcasts at faster speeds.

Not sure if you have to have a Samsung phone to use it.

VLC player is also free and will let you play back at higher speeds...
