ok well i have a bit of information, not happy about it really but i got an email from HTC earlier saying.

    hi james,

updates for your device are provided by your network. please contact them for support!
please note that rooting your device will result in your warranty being void, and should a repair become necessary we will charge you.

    best regards

    mike.

so if im correct HTC released a nordic update but us in the uk have to get our update from our network provider?? orange, t mobile or whoever.

    this seems strange to me.

why dont HTC release the uk update??

If this is true then I am screwed! I am in the US on AT&T and the lag/scrolling by itself is becoming a bit annoying.

the update will be on the htc website, and im guessing that if your phone is unlocked (not rooted) then you wont have any problems with it,but phones that are network dependent may have a few issues, my phone is unlocked, not rooted, but if i have to wait anymore than 2 days i am going to root, the lag has got worse and worse.

the only thing that scares me is that ive looked on the orange website and there is no news on there what so ever i even called them up and got nothing, i did ask htc about this and they assured me that there is an update coming tomorrow,

"Hi Sam, Yes i do hear from time to time the support on the Orange network isnt as desirable as one might hope. I suggest you call them again and speak to a supervisoror line manager to get the correct information. There is definately an update being released and Orange will definately be advertising this. We have attempted to find a link, but it seems the Orange support page isnt working correctly at present. As your device is branded by Orange UK i cannot help you further than that. Kind Regards, HTC Europe"

i have my fingers crossed :D

i am still on 1.5 custom hero rom and works really nice..

not even try 1.5.1 or 2.2

dont even care if new update came out as hero running so smooth and fast .. dont know if the official one will be any more faster?

Custom ROMS are based on this so will be just as fast, but with further possible tweaks as well.

I think that vid is quite a few weeks old now though.

I presume that is a demo of the leaked ROM before it was tweaked for release as a custom ROM.

Unless Orange offer an improvement on the radio side of things, I'll stick with what I have now (2.0)

That's actually the earlier Nordic release, so use at your own risk. The UK-specific update hasn't been released yet.

on HTC support site its says

the firmware is released today for the UK customers can somebody uploaded on the internet and we can can use it?

back up all your data before performing this upgrade.
    * This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading.
    * The update will take up to 10 minutes, DO NOT interrupt the update process, make/receive phone calls, disconnect the phone from the PC, or press any buttons until the process has been completed.

which means we can use this update but we will wont have orange logo and stuff who cares?

as long as its hero firmware i dont see any problem?

I am going to give it a go after work.

specially i dont want Orange firmware mess with radio settings and stuff.. just dont like it.
