Any (Physical) Problems With Your Evos?

I have been through 9 EVO's. ALL have had light leakage and developed some other problem.

HTC is pure garbage, they wouldn't know how to make a quality handset if they tried. I'm seriously considering the Sprint Nexus S 4G when it drops next month...

I know some have bad luck ..some just can't catch a break ..

But 9 with light leakage ...hmmm ...
At some point u have to look for other common denominator

Well, another failure...Yay HTC...you suck!

I want this phone to be great, because I really do like it, but so far, I have had many replacements, here is the list:

EVO#1: Light leakage.
EVO#2: Light leakage & Buzzy Vibrate.
EVO#3: Light leakage...(realized it effects ALL Evo's no longer returning for this reason.)
EVO#4: Dead pixels on camera sensor.
EVO#5: Bad speakerphone.
EVO#6: Dust under screen.
EVO#7: Random restarts.
EVO#8: 'B key hotspot'.
EVO#9: Horizontal lines on display.
EVO#10: Brightness stuck on max.

...waiting for EVO #11

Honestly, each time I have and issue, I go to the Sprint store and the SPRINT EMPLOYEE orders me a new phone...

ugh!

HTC makes the worst phone hardware I have ever experienced.

Damn dude. You need to stay out of a casino. I've on #3 and they have been all flawless.

Had I known light leakage is on every EVO to some degree, I'd probably still have the first one...

Ding! The rest of you are most likely putting up with flaws. Don't tell everyone that posts in this thread they are "unlucky" or hard on their phones, its getting old. We're glad you don't have or see problems with your phone - the truth is polling on glass separation and broken charge ports puts your chances of a serious flaw over 50%. I am, without exaggeration or hyperbole, fairly certain that 80-90% of EVOs haven't/won't make it a year without some issue.

if 80-90%
hell .. if 50% of the evos come back for repair / replacement.
HTC would be in pain! lost of profits.

i doubt it is that high.

Ya, if that were true, its almost like they would have to force sprint to make it hell to get simple warranty work done for most people, or have them lie and tell you to make an asurion claim and they'll take off the 100 dollar charge, and never do.

oh wait..

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/105952-response-htc-about-light-leakage.html

I'm not claiming that poll is 100% accurate by any means, but there are lots of polls if you look on the internet, and all are at 40% or higher having serious problems.

HTC has put out multiple build versions, at least one specifically addressing glass separation and light leakage. Every android or phone related forum has a multitude of threads about evo defects. Major tech review sites have noted glass separation and light leakage as a problem...

Whether or not defects are prevalent on the EVO or not isn't up for debate, just whether most people notice/put up with it.

On a side note, my girlfriends NEW phone from asurion(the one sprint lied and said they'd pay the deductible for, I didn't even want to make a claim) sprouted its cracks by the power button and has slight light leakage. My original doesn't have a single problem yet.

Yeah, they really are terrible. In fact....

The Sprint store swapped out my 10th Evo for 11th...and guess what...it was broken too! I left the store, made a phone call and noticed the ear piece was buzzy, walked back into the store and they replaced the ear piece.

These phones are such pieces of crap, the second one this week that was defective straight outta the store....

I think this will be a good thread to just share your physical problems(Like scratched screen, cracked lense, broken volume rocker, etc.) with your Evos.
I have two problems right now. The unlock button is very weird right now, with the SLIGHTEST touch, it turns on the screen. It's actually kinda awesome! :D My second problem is that either thet USB cable kinda broke, or the Evo's USB kinda broke. I say this because you have to adjust the USB in a special position for the Evo to charge, but other than that, my Evo is in PERFECT condition! :)

The only issue I have had to date was the vibrate stopped working on my Evo. I had to take it back in to sprint since Im regularly in situations where I need to talk to people through texts however having the ringer on would be inappropriate.

^^^Must be a common problem^^^

My Brand new phone stopped vibrating after 2 months.

POS "Advance" exchange phone I received had broken volume rocker.

2nd POS "Advance" exchange phone I got looked like it belonged to a 5 year old. Scratched up, bent speaker grill, red paint under kick stand was all scratched.

Figured I may have better luck at the local corporate store rather than phone support again.

Sprint guy tells me "Well it is a refurbished phone you know..."

To which I replied "Would you not be standing in a Sprint store too If you had received this POS to replace your brand new, 2 month old, zagg screen protected, otter box encased, mint, effing phone???"

They gave me a new phone. Being a light cell user, hopefully I get better mileage out of this one. And hopefully you heavy users have better luck than me.
