I almost got the Droid when it came out, but balked at the too-cramped keyboard. Glad I did, other reviewers and users noted this, too.

Still, I want a slider so I have a physical qwerty keyboard plus big screen. I was hoping for one with GSM, but have decided I am only in Europe 10-15 days a year so its not that big of a deal to me.

So any sliders coming out in the next few months? Might Moto update its droid (not sure how easy it would be to fix a cramped keyboard without a basically new model)...

Shadow is a 4.3 inch slate like the HD2 and EVO rumored for a July/Summer release.

No one knows what the N2 would be.

Droid2 is supposedly a 4.3 inch slider much like the droid coming in Oct, supposedly going into testing around july.

I did not see it when I posted, but did shortly afterwards elsewhere.

I did check it out in a VZW store, and have read a few reviews. There seems to be wasted space that could be extra screen, but I could possibly live with that (and pass it on to a kid when a better one was out). However, the killer for me is the Devour only has Android 1.6, which is (from what I read) limited to a single gmail account for email, calendars, etc. For me, that is a deal-breaker. So I'm hanging on for a few more months or whatever.

    Thanks for the reply!

Wow, if that is a slider with a QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.1 or better, then this will very likely be the ticket for me. Could not find any more info, but that is encouraging.

I'd returned my Eris because was within the 30 day policy & figure something cooler & faster (Incredible, etc) will come out soon. Considered the Devour but after reading review after review describing how the pull-out keyboard felt flimsy, that the 2 megapixel camera without any autofocus is so lame that you can't use Droid apps like ShopSavvy (apps that allow you to scan barcodes), even shorter battery life than the Eris, etc - I decided against the Devour.

Am in Droid Hovering Mode (DHM)!

Yeah I know what you mean... if the Shadow/Mirage/MotoNexusDroid2 has a GOOD keyboard, which is quite possible given the rumored 4.3 inch size, then... well it will be the best freakin' phone ever. Good thing I have several upgrade-eligible lines... :D

    Shadow != Droid2

    Two very different phones.

Shadow = 4.3" slate (no keyboard), 700ish MHz Qualcomm, 8 MP cam, possible MotoBlur2.1, June-ish release.

Droid2 = Refreshed Droid mostly, focus on improved keyboard, new 1 GHz processor (possible NVIDIA/tegra?), 5 MP cam, hopeful July-ish release

HTC really just needs to slap the QWERTY from the Touch Pro2 on the Incredible, and I'd be all set. Not up for NE2 until May 2011, but I'm ready to switch to Android now, so I'd pay full retail.

You wouldn't think it'd be that hard for HTC to do. In fact, I'm surprised it didn't come out along with the Incredible. Droid Incredible and Droid Incredibler...done.

Now those folks can make a keyboard! If they do put 2.1 (it was reported to have 1.5 on BGR) on there and fix the BT voice dialing that plagues Android, I'll switch.

LG Ally wouldn't of been a bad phone to get. I really liked LG. My last 2 phones prior to Eris were LG.

My wife likes her LG Voyager so I'm thinking that the Ally might be a good way to get her into an Android.

Unlike some though, I am really a fan of the HTC Sense UI, and HTC's hardware in general.

I know they're going to bring a snapdragon/qwerty/android device to the table, it's just a matter of when. I would definitely guess sometime within the next 12 months or so, but we obviously won't see the leaked 2011 roadmap for another few months. Honestly, the longer they wait, they better the chances that it will be LTE capable.

The new article from Engadget hints at something a little better. I hope it's true. Since VZW isn't saying much, it might be another Devour...

I have been a big fan of LG feature phones and have had several in the past few years, Dare, Env2, Env3, Chocolate 3, Chocoloate touch, Env Touch and have always had good success with all of them. I am looking forward to seeing how LG does with Android and the Ally. It won't replace my Incredible but maybe a good replacement for my wife's Eris.
