Hi all, my first post here and I am in no way a techy so sorry if this is a simple question.

I have and HTC Hero and am now using "handcent" to save my phones battery (instead of the HTC standard sms application). I have set the new handcent app to my default app for messages but still get notifications from both of the applications rather than just the handcent as I wanted.

Thanks for any help, Tim Bowers.

Edit:Sorry all, just searched for a bout longer and found the answer. Cheers.

Just go into the settings for the default messaging services and turn off the notifications, problem solved;)

It doesn't solve it for me either...Handcent is set to be default message app and the HTC Messages app notifications turned off but when an SMS is received the main message app appears centre screen and the Handcent icon appears in the notification bar.

Are you sure its the main message app that appears? And not the handset popup notification?

Doing what I suggested gets rid of the unused apps notification, you still get the Handcent message popping up on the screen and the Handcent notification

i have both (main and handcent) notifications turned off and i still get a notification. when i click on it, it will open the main text app.

Do you have ALL notifications turned off including auto-retrieve??

i deleted all third party sms apps, so just the stock app is running. notification and auto-retrieve is off and still get a notification..
