I'm looking to get an Android tablet for a project I'm wiring together. I'm wondering if anybody knows if there's a way to get the tablet to turn on and boot straight into a program when it sees power, and when the power is removed the unit shuts off automatically?

    Thank you,

Boot into app can be done with tasker (actually boot into android and launch app upon boot event perhaps with a time delay).

Shut down phone upon power disconnect can also be done with tasker but also requires root.

I see you said 'shut down "phone,"' can I assume the exact thing will apply to a tablet? I've rooted phones before but I haven't even peaked interest in rooting a tablet (if people root tablets) until now.

    Thanks!

Yes rooting tablet is same principle as rooting phones really. I've not used Tasker myself but electricpete says it will do the job.
