I've been using the new Xperia mini pro (SK27i), and the entire time it seems I've been struggling to get a signal (T-mobile). When I'm on the phone outside, it'll often go down to 0 bars for a second, making the call drop, then go back up. And if I'm in my house, I can almost never find T-mobile (and if I do, it jumps from full bars to no bars every few seconds).

My old phone worked better than this, and it's a 5+ year old flip phone...

Is there any way I can get my phone to connect more reliably?

(Note : I don't use data, just normal)

T-mobile has a lot of dead spots. I had to resort to wi-fi. It's worth the extra money.

If you didn't get your SIM card replaced, usually a good place to start.

If that doesn't work, wrap it in tinfoil.
