I've got a few pics on my phone that i'd prefer if curious people trying out my phone wouldn't be able to stumble upon by accident. I downloaded astro and tried moving them to a different directory but they always show up when the photos app is opened. Is it possible to make them accessible through astro only somehow?

Create a blank file with the name .nomedia and place it in the directory that you want the Gallery to over look.

Or just rename the folder with the images you want hidden. I use Astro file manager and that has the facility to rename a folder. Just add a "." to the beginning of the folder name and it won't then show up in the gallery.

    Eg:

    Media
    |-- Photos
    |-- family
    |-- interesting
    |-- .private
    |-- porn
    |-- funny

Nothing in the .private, porn or funny folders will show, but you can set Astro to show these "system" folders and Astro has an image viewer you can use to see the hidden images.

THanks guys, I went with the dot before the filename and that's sorted it out. Especially with this being a new handset people get curious and it's best to be cautious about these things.

I downloaded a free app called hideNseek. Basically you can hide any file with this app and it won't show up. I have videos and pictures that i do not want to show up under the gallery. All you do is click the menu and show all or hide all. Also it acts as a flashlight and is password protected. To bring the password up you hit menu a few times when the flashlight is on. Pretty cool app.

Edit: I don't think it was a free app. Think it was a $1. Check it out though. Well worth it. Specially if you need a flashlight and you only have your phone on ya!

Ditto on HideNSeek. Good app. Easy to use. You can hide one, some, or all files in any folder.

App poses as a flashlight on your home screen (if you want it there). Open the app, it's a flashlight. Press menu 3 times, and the file hide app opens.
