I'm seeing news articles at the bottom of the Chrome browser on my Pixel phone (Android 7.1.2). Is there any way to turn those off? I understand Google wants to engage readers, but I'm not interested in seeing the news.

Okay, here's what I found. These news articles can be turned off in your Google account, but that involves turning off all Web & App Activity.. which involves a lot of data that I was not willing to disable.

There is another method for disabling these news articles in Chrome, but it involves tweaking experimental settings.

**** WARNING: changing experimental settings in Chrome may result in unexpected Behavior ****

    1. Launch Chrome
    2. Go to 'chrome://flags' (without quotes) in the URL bar
    3. Tap the menu button at the top-right, and choose find in page
    4. Search for the following setting:  #enable-ntp-snippets
    5. Tap the drop-down menu under that setting and choose the menu item labeled 'Disabled'.
    6. Chrome will inform you that the browser needs to be relaunched for the settings to take effect. Tap the relaunch button.

Again, please keep in mind that changing experimental settings in Chrome may result and unexpected Behavior.

I'm glad you found a solution - and thanks for reporting back to share it with others. :)
