I'm the anomaly. Totally happy with 2.1. It's much smoother and more solid. Love having access to new apps (like Goggles). My battery life is now hugely improved over 1.5.
My phone did stop vibrating, but I think that's a hardware issue.
Sorry to disappoint...

Nah... you're not an anomaly. I was actually happy with my 1.5 Hero. But wanted to wait and see the dust settle prior to making any move to update.
So... I waited all this time to ROOT. I did so because I wanted the ability to back out of 2.1 if in fact I didn't like it. SO, I used the 2.1 update file provided by Damagless over at XDA that he made ROOT compatible.

All I have to say is WOW... I have not experienced any LAG at all. Really didn't experience it much prior either (1.5) but it did happen here and there. The 2.1 snaps now, I would definitely say it's an improvement, but not perfect. I liked the old Camera Menu, but probably just cause I was used to it now. The Settings Menu and the now included tweaks are nice. There's a lot of little things that seem much easier like setting up Email accounts too. The WEB Browser is snappy too. I am in the process of finding and reinstalling my apps as I want to do it all fresh rather than from a backup, just to make sure each app coexists nicely with the new OS update. I'm reserved about the automatic inclusion of FACEBOOK contacts into my Phone contact list, but I really don't have that many so I will just delete them. I haven't had much time with MMS/SMS but will play with that later and make sure all is good there. The Google Maps ROCKS!!! hahaha, I was happy with the old one cause I don't need turn based directions (I can read a map

) but I like the TRAFFIC info and the new one has that too and more so I'm ecstatic. I still would prefer a preloaded MAP app from Google so in areas of bad signal, it will not lose functionality. No Vibration or Audio issues so far and my BT works well. I even noticed something int here about OBEX and is something I thought was sorely missing from 1.5 and will try that out too later.
Sorry for the long notes, but it's like I'm going through a new phone and learning all it's features again. So yeah! I'm happy!!!
By The Way... ROOTING couldn't be any easier. Truly... Read and follow these instructions and info here:
