The OTA could take a few more days to still receive. If you want to get it now, you can download it in the root section. It'll give you a link to a signed stock Gingerbread version which is basically the exact same thing that the OTA would give you.....so you can still play the waiting game or go for it now....

I'm curious to see how long it takes to come out. But, if I don't see it by the middle of next week I'm probably going to just snag the deodexed version and no longer worry.

I have not gotten it either. I have not see too many post about people saying that they received it.

Still waiting as well. I had a bad experience manually upgrading my Ally to Froyo, so i'll continue to wait. Couldn't take that long, right? lol

the update that started friday was a SOAK test, sorta a preliminary test to the large OTA that will be released. Starting on June 1st the large scale OTA will be going out in waves sorta like Google is doing with the Music Beta invites(got mine =]). The OTAs usually take about a week for full scale upgrades for everyone.

Remember, the Droid X is equipped with Blur which can actually pull updates from the servers. So worry not, your update is on the way =]

I did that. Ended up having to format and wipe cache cause I got stuck in Bootloop. I got it running and tried it for a day. It was pretty nice but I SBF'd back to Froyo to await the OTA cause I want to see how its like

I'm lost...you had the OTA (.596) on your phone, yet you SBF'd back to Froyo so you can get the OTA again via push from a server?

Why not just wait until this Summer, when Verizon intends to push their tiered data dildo up our asses?

Was gonna wait for OTA but I fig I might as well just install the update.zip off the interwebz, very simple and only takes ~10min.

So if you download the update.zip via one of the links, what did you do to install it? Go into clockwork recovery and install it or were there any other steps?

I consider myself pretty computer savy, but the multiple instructions in the posts have got m doubting exactly what to do if running a stock setup.

EDIT: took a chance and downloaded the zip, moved it to the SD card and booted into stock recovery. A few tense moments, but it finally installed. Sat a long time on the droid animation logo, I did a battery pull and rebooted. Took a little longer to boot, but it finally came up. I am now on Gingerbread.

So maybe the question is...has anyone outside of the soak group gotten the VZW OTA?

Google is clever with the invites....creates hype...remember the scramble to get a Wave invite?

I am pretty happy with the way my X is set up now in Froyo.

I did give some thought to doing the manual DL but saw that even though my phone is only 6 weeks old, I apparently don't have the latest (correct for DL) radio version. I saw something about SBFing back to the same version of Froyo I have now to do the DL and that made no sense at all to me nor did I know how to do the SBF (and I did sniff around awhile looking at that).

I admit I DNS but I presume there still may be some buggies in the current version that they may fix before the official OTA.

Yes, I'd like to at least try the new GB but for me, it's really fixing something that isn't broke (or broke much anyway).

Unless someone here talks me out of it, I'll probably just wait til Big Red knocks on the window of my phone with a hot steaming plate of GB.

Bruce in Ocala, FL -also highly confident in my ability to kill a phone
