My gps with google maps was working great today until about 4 PM Eastern time. After that I haven't been able to get a fix. The tower triangulation is working. Just no exact location.

    Let me know.

Apparently there is a fat guy in a red suit in some kind of sleigh or something being pulled along by some kind of reindeer or something that is screwing up radars and gps units.
    Merry Christmas.

There's a better chance of this than the GPS network going down.

I'm sure google maps is taking a hit tonight with everyone using the noradsanta.org tracking thingy.

Yes, thingy is a very technical term.

I was thinking it was most likely the aGPS servers going down. I could get a fix if I left it in the same spot for five minutes.

I've had my droid since launch, and today is the first day that I had any issue. I was driving to an unknown place, and suddenly...the thing FREAKED out!! Started just rambling...."make a U turn, turn left onto ....proceed for 50 miles, make a left in Montana...(I'm in Ohio) Really, the thing had a nervous breakdown. I had to pull over, turn off the phone and start up navigation again. After that it was fine, but for a few minutes there I could have ended up in Siberia!!

On my way back, I had a thought though...when it went nuts, I was driving parallel to a large airport. However, when I drove back via the same route, the system did not flake out on me.

ps...this happened at about 12pm EST
