Anyone else "losing" their music?

Here's my major issue with ICS... not necessarily Nexus:

I loaded 4GB of music onto my phone. Scores of albums into my Music folder. Went into my music player of choice (Cubed) and it found maybe 30% of my music! For example, it saw only 3 out of 15 Pink Floyd albums... they just didn't show up!

I confirmed their existence in Astro, and then tried to see if the stock Google Music player would see them.

    It didn't!

I wiped the Music folder clean and installed 4 test albums into it, albums that had not been "found" before.

It found ZERO music on my phone!

Soooo.... something in Ice Cream Sandwich is 'hiding' a large majority of my personal music from music players, even though file managers can see it all.

Is anyone out there able to duplicate this on their Nexus? Are you missing music on your phone or am I the only one here with this issue?

I use audio galaxy for all of my music but I would be more than happy to install some music on the phoe to try and duplicate the problem.

    Chief,
I saw your post in the known issues thread. Sorry to see you haven't found a solution.

Some comments for you. I had a heck of a time transferring music and photos from my computer. I found that the cable that came with the phone works fine, and my other USB to MicroUSB cables didn't work. Curious as to why, but I'm looking into it. In any event, make sure you use that cable to transfer.

I'd also delete the Music folder and create a new one. I've read that some of the permissions might get hosed and cause problems. You could also check in Astro to see if the albums that aren't showing up don't have the right permissions.

That's all I got for now. If you keep running into a roadblock, we can talk offline and I can try one of your albums to see if they dissappear on my phone.

Maybe it has something to do with the way Google Music works with the cloud. I know mine gives songs a special cryptic name that only Google Music can make sense of.

I know you loaded yours on the phone the old fashioned way (instead of just uploading them to Google Music). But the problem might be related to that feature or something.

No, this is all music I moved from my PC to Nexus via the USB cable. Permissions HAVE to be right, because they're all albums that I copied to the PC from my Droid... where they all showed up and played just fine.

And remember that it's not just Google Music that can't see it: my primary music app, ^3 (cubed), is "missing" the exact same music.

Vette, if you could give me a crash course in checking music permissions, I'll be happy to do that... otherwise I think I'm stuck. But if absolutely no one else can duplicate the problem, well... it's just very difficult to believe that this is specific to MY Nexus, as it definitely is a software issue.

I'd use either Astro or RootExplorer to go into the files and folders and check the permisions. I'll update the exact steps tomorrow when I have a chance.

Just something else to think about. Do those albums or folders have any special characters or punctuation that could be causing them to be ignored?

About why some of your cables are not working, figured you might want to check this thread out.

    http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/465516-certain-chargers-not-working-gn.html

Specifically "Check the charger output. (I have to use a magnifying glass)

GNex charger is 5.0v and 1.0a. If you match up to that it should work.

Many older chargers are .5a, 500ma (same as usb) or even less, like .35a (350ma).

I have been buying after market usb outlet chargers for years. Both for AC and for the 12v outlet in the vehicles. I never buy less than 1a output. All of those have worked with the GNEx so far."
