so the thumbs up on the flashin with the stock RUU working?
Including the stock ROM. I suppose I don't understand the rush to go back to stock when they will have a rooted version of 2.2 done in no time.
I don't see why you simply wouldn't hold out for a week or so to wait for the dust to clear out some. Nobody thought we were getting 2.2 before Christmas anyway so this is way ahead of schedule for us.
stock roms are good, just lack mods/hacks. roms be messin up lil stuff a stock rom will do out the box, like 8mp cam and 4g working. but, if its here, and i can get it why not? erthing gets rooted/hacked anyway. sure no1 knows how loing itll take, but nuthin is ever not worked around eventually. u can be patient and wait. i can get it now and still eventually be rooted. cuz when this update starts shipping on new evos itll be essential that it be rooted.
Which RUU did you use?
I use the 1.47 one and it gave me a signature mismatch error.
I cant seem to uninstall unrevoked. everytime i go to flash it with the stock rom, it give me the usb error... any ideas?
thanks in advance
had to install htc sync..
then rebooted computer. plugged in phone and set it up to see htc sync.. after that everyting went smooth.. took about 10 15 mins to revert back to og rom.. then once that was done it booted up. 5 mins later it asked if i wanted to update to newest firmware.. did so and it turn out ok...
What version of RUU did you use? I was using 1.47 RUU. I am getting signature mismatch error.
I did not reboot after installing htc sync. I guess I will try that.
UPDATE: still getting Error 132: SINGRUE error.
Did you follow the instruction at:
or did you just use htc sync and RUU.
Did you get the htc sync and RUU from the places directed by the instructions above?
I did noticed that htc sync was an older version.
i was getting the triangle and exclamation as well. tried to install ota update 3 separate times, all failed. i finally just downloaded the update and changed the name to update, thre iton my sd card, booted into recovery mode and applied update from sd card. everything works fine now and 2.2 installed with no problems.
Where did you download the update?
Are you referring to the early released .3 version?
install the latest HTC sync software off the HTC site people. Reboot. Then install the RUU.exe file.
have bootloader on screen on your EVO, USB debug on & USB connected.
run the RUU.exe
follow onscreen directions and bam now your back to 1.47 OTA in stock form.
then you can go to settings and install the 2.2 OTA.
OF course you lose root.
I think I know the answer, but.... Will this WIPE the phone?
unfortunately yes, but if you back everything up, reroot using any other root method other than unrevoked and get everything back and flash a 2.2 rom.
my pc has been on the checking....updating rom image on Android phone screen for about an hour. my phone screen has turned black. Did it take you this long for the ruu?
I did all of this and I get bootloader version error, it say the version is wrong use the correct version.
what do i do??
i really wanna remove unrevoked3!!
Totally works. 1. download the froyo update 2. change name to "update" (without quotes). Change only the name. Leave the "zip" extension alone! 3. take out your evo battery and remove your SD card. Put it in your computer and drag the new file to it (or hook your phone to the computer via usb cable and drag the new file to SD card). 4. replace card (if you removed it) and battery and re-start phone (see 5) 5. hold the "up volume" button while starting the phone. 6. navigate to "bootloader" with up/down volume buttons (mine was already sitting on "bootloader") and select with power button. 7. find and select "recovery" (again with the power button). Phone will boot into recover mode. 8. select "apply update.zip" (again with the power button). That's it. It will take your phone about 5-10 minutes to completely recover. Don't worry about the box with a green arrow coming out of it pointing to a little android guy. That's part of the process. When it's all done, you will have Froyo 2.2, you didn't wipe or lose anything (except root), but Superuser permissions app will still be in your apps. However, you are not rooted. How do I get rid of superuser?
This method works like a charm. There were a few scary moments with "unusually long pauses", but all is running well now.
For the record, I had Unrevoked 3. I lost root (wireless teathering) of course, But the update took.
Where do I download the OFFICIAL 2.2 update from to get it on my computer?
when you guys say download the froyo update do you mean the ota version
Can anyone help him? Im lost as to his issue.
[How To] Unroot and return to stock. - Android Central Forums
I was saying that I have seen some posts that say install the 2.2 ROM manually. Now to do this I have to download the file to my computer from the internet and place it on the root of my sd card right? Well I cant find a link that isnt broken and lets me download the official Unrooted 2.2 zipped rom. Does anyone have the link?
You can get the latest official OTA straight from HTC here:
Download the file, rename it to UPDATE.ZIP and copy it to the root of your SD card. Then just follow the instructions found in this thread.
Some advice, once the update process has started...just walk away from the phone and do something productive. I does a lot of rebooting and pausing and you might be tempted to interrupt the process. Just let it do its thing and all will be well.
Hope this helps.
BTW... I had unrevoked 3 and didn't have to wipe my phone to install this. The install also didn't wipe my phone. All gmail accounts, home screens, data, etc were intact.
ok I will also try this method... hope it works. I WANT 2.2!
WELL.... IT WORKED.. THANKS GUYS
