I have my default connection settings on "Disk Drive", but I get no response any more when I plug my phone into a PC. I've tried different USB cords, and still it's the same. I also tried the approach of resetting my phone, in every way possible (even wiped internal data). Is anyone aware of software or settings which may cause this to happen? Am I the only one who has this issue?

Yes, I've tried three different computers, and four operating system, including Linux. Linux is considered ideal for USB operations because of it's USB stacking, therefore it requires no drivers (so it's been said). Anyway, in my experience no OS needs drivers just to look at a phone, ipod, or card reader and transfer files. I cannot even do this with my phone - it seems that all of my USB functions are dead, except for charging my battery.

I have also gone the root of hard resetting my phone, going through all of the options, even wiping all my data. I was hoping that the problem would be cured when I flashed Gingerbread, but this has only created sudden battery problems (none of my batteries can idle for more than a few hours, running over 100 degrees) and still cannot get any sort of a USB connection.

Just tried a different USB line, guess it may have been that. Hard to believe, but true.
