I read about the update coming to our phones but haven't had any luck getting it yet.

Has anyone else got it yet? It said we should be able to initiate it beginning on the 19th but i've tried every day with no luck.

    Important Notes:
    - The customer may initiate the update beginning 1/19 or wait until notifications begin being sent to devices on 1/24
    - Updates may be released in stages. When checking for the update, you may receive a message that no update is available,
check back later or wait until the update notification is sent to your device

I did, and it broke my phone--no longer able to receive calls or listen to voicemail. I called in to Sprint Tech Support and they want me to do a factory reset! While on the call they got another caller with the same problem. This may grow to be a real issue for us/them! Have you heard of any resources or fixes?

Damn, i guess i shouldn't be so eager to get it now. That sucks but thanks for letting everyone know.

    Good luck!
  5. my wife's phone got it this morning. about 2 hours ago. i just installed it right now.

my phone hasn't gotten it yet.

just did a test and called her phone, worked. called my phone from hers, worked. called her phone and left a voicemail, worked.

+1 I did a battery pull and still same problem. This is the first time I've had OTA problem and have never rooted it. If I have to do a factory reset, I might as well root and flash.

I got it this morning. So far my phone seems to be running better. The previous update made my phone nearly unusable. I would have to pull the battery 3-4 times a day. So far I have not pulled the battery at all today and it has been running for 12 hours.

The wife and I both got ours this evening. Her phone locked up, so she pulled the battery and once she restarted, she got the notification. I powered mine down, and restarted and got the update within 5 minutes. So far no issues with receiving calls or voicemails.

Got this update this morning and I can not answer my phone! It will ring, but the screen is dark, then a pop up that says com.android.phone system failed and force close.

I have restarted the phone and pulled the battery with no change in result...any ideas?

I just got the update.. The call answer UI changed... how do I "ignor" incoming calls ??? NO OPTION TO IGNOR ???

slide red button to left to ignore, green button to right to answer.

there is a menu benaeth the two to ignore with text.

    i still don't like it.

I got it. It came unexpectedly. I haven't experienced any problems yet but it changed the way I answer calls which is kinda weird.

Thanks, but where did the callerID go? It used to put the persons contact picture in the middle of the screen and I would slide that up to answer or down to ignor?

right above the green and red buttons. i don't know if the pictures load for the contacts. for some reason the profile pics from facebook would never link to the contacts in my phone.

Can anyone who has gotten the update confirm that CarrierIQ has actually been removed?

I got the update this morning. I haven't had any problems with it so far, but it screwed up my wallpaper. I can't scroll through the scree s and see different aspects of my picture anymore. It's just stuck on one screen and miniaturized. I've tried multiple images, and they all do the same thing. Not cool. :(

ooh, im scared, i havent even had time to address these issues since Gingerbread update:
    1) GPS quits working after 10 mins (that happen mostly when i would run pandora & GPS at the same time)
    2) Wifi lock is much weaker then before, i can be sitting right next to my router & still only show couple strength bars.
    3) keyboard will randomly go into application short-cut every once in a while (which i have not assigned any applications to)
    4) Screens still locks up couple times a week

All this never happened b/f Gingerbread update; definitely makes enloying my phone less; but i will never switch to an iPhone!!!

Same problem with the wallpaper. Won't scroll from side to side. Any fix?

Got the update last night but was sacred to install it. But i bit the bullet this morning and it went just fine. I will say that i was able to use the GPS for 20 mins or so without an issue. I would be lucky to get 10 mins out of it before it crapped out. Also, the phone didn't randomly lock up or restart like it did almost every day since the Gingerbread update. So far i am very happy with the latest update and hopefully it continues.

I'm still not really sure how to answer the phone. I can answer it but I'm not really sure how I did it.

    Same here. Wallpaper won't scroll.

Had same problem w/ GPS. Called into Sprint Tech Supp. Had to wipe previous updates from McFroyo. Seems to have done the trick. GPS back to working and being able to "locate".
