Mine has very noticeable leak by the home and menu buttons =/.

I bought it at RS, would they be able/willing to exchange it for me? It's just very off-putting.

I'd also only be able to take it to RS and not a Sprint store, am I right?

Yes, everyone has noticed these problems. But it's not a big deal for me as long as the room I'm in is not pitch dark.

How bad is it for you? It's very noticeable right below the home button for me, and somewhat noticeable in the menu button, and this is with me being in a fairly lit up room, no artificial lights, but it's only 1:47 pm here and the sun is still shining through the window.

I realize it may be seem like nitpicking, but if I am sticking with this phone for 1+ year plus, I want it to be as great as possible.

None for me. My Hero had a bunch but this thing is solid.

Now THAT'S a good attitude! :) [IMG] It seems silly to worry about something so insignificant when you're holding an EVO in your hands.

My iphone had light leakage around the bezel, had it for almost 2 years and I'm used to it now. No biggie.

Yea, I've been having light leakage problems for the last couple years. My doctor said it's because I'm over 60. He wants to run some tests.

Mine has a little, didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. I will have to look at it at night and see how noticeable it is then. Not a huge concern for me, this is a first gen phone ya know.

I've got just a small amount under the home and search buttons. Only visible if I'm in the dark. Even then I have to look for it. It doesn't bother me. My Hero/Blackberry/Palm all had a little bit. It never has bothered me.

None for me. Phone seems to be flawless so far (knocking on wood).

Nope! As much as I've heard about this I am glad to say I have none. Maybe it's to make up for all the defective Pre screens I got stuck with.

edit: never mind. Just realized that if I look at just the right angle when they are lit up I can see a sliver of light. Not a deal breaker for me. I had to really look to find it and I think I have realistic expectations for manufacturing. As long as the phone holds together and lasts well through the year, I don't mind little stuff like that.

i dont think its silly. even though i personally wouldn't pay any mind to it, a lot of ppl have been looking forward to this phone for a while and dropping $450+ (or $200 + contract), its reasonable to be upset at what looks to be a lack of attention to detail on HTC's part. Apparently, theres a good number of units out there that has this problem, and HTC could have easily fixed it in the factory. Regardless of whether its a first gen or not, i think it wouldve been a simple fix for HTC.

No problem on my wife's Evo.

I do have the light leakage on my Evo. I'm taking it back to Best Buy tmw to exchange. I know it's not normal because my wife's is fine.

Interested in seeing how everyone's phone is today? I had no light leakage problems yesterday when I bought it but I definitely do today, mostly under the home and search buttons. If I lightly press down on that area, it covers up the light for a few minutes but eventually the leak comes back. I noticed it this afternoon so it's not just something that happens in the dark.

Got mine at Radioshack and also considering exchanging it - may not seem like a "huge" deal but it's really annoying when you notice it everytime you pick up the phone.
