Google Navigation made the three issues that I have with 2.1 totally worth the early switch. What three issues do I have?

    1. I have to sign into Google every time I boot the phone. Not a big deal since I don't boot that often.
    2. The 50% cell signal issue. This only happens when I reboot and doing the Plane Mode trick fixes that.
    3. Crappy Sense dialer/people lag when making or receiving calls. Switching to the stock Home fixes this problem for me.

Well, she really wants 2.1, she is just afraid of losing all her stuff. I've explained about backing things up and all that, but......

noob question: isn't it now possible to root the eris as long as you didn't upgrade early? or are all the other sites on the web just giving people info to update instead of rooting?

What is this "wifi trick" people are talking about? I've upgraded to the leaked 2.1 and my battery life literally went from 86% while I was at work today to less than 5% in about 3 hours. For some reason my battery app is showing that my "Cell Standby" is using about 30% and the "Android System" is using a little more than 50%.

Also, how do I get "stock home" lol, I'd like to get rid of the phone lag/audio problem with phone calls it's quite annoying :)

Thanks to anybody that can/would like to help! ^_^

Plane Mode trick (not wifi)...if your Cell Standby has another line that shows "Time without a signal" is at 50%, then you have a problem and need to do the Plane Mode trick. I think that's what I meant and not "wifi".

But anyway... Turn on Plane Mode. Put your phone to sleep for a minute or less...then turn off Plane Mode. That should fix the 50% time without signal issue.

The easiest way to get stock Home, download the app "Home Switcher" from the Market.

    Thanks!

Any reason you can think of that my Android System would be using 51% of my battery?
This is a huuuuge pain for me, I hate battery life on my phone being so short :(

I don't really regret upgrading early, but the more I see coming out for root, i'm starting to get a little jealous. And if we see custom ROMs before the leakers get root, I will probably regret it.

I would be the proud owner of an HTC Droid Brick in about 24 hours, if I had root. I would have it so f'ed up it would be completely unusable.

I am not regretting going to 2.1 at all! LOVE IT!

1 Question... Does Live Wallpapers work on Eris 2.1 and if so, how do I get it? I have searched and searched, but no good answer.

If you actually look a bit further by tapping Android System you will see why it is running such a high percentage. Keep in mind also that it is only talking about your time since you last took the phone off the charger.

I say don't do the 2.1 leak.....wait for the official OTA 2.1 update. Sure 2.1 has some cool stuff, but it jacked my wifes phone up, and now she can't make calls most of the time without resetting the phone......too many bugs.....just wait....

Have you tried re-flashing her phone with the leaked 2.1? There are a lot of people here running 2.1 that don't have these sort of problems.

Yeah...I did that earlier....formated SD card, re-flashed the 2.1 leak, then did a factory reset, and it seems to work better.....so far....

Not in Canada, this displeases me.
I flashed my phone a couple of weeks ago, and don't regret it AT ALL. I'll be slow to "upgrade" to the official 2.1 when/if it comes out.

I wonder if someone can post a link listing all the 2.1 features or maybe just list some of the top reasons to switch to 2.1 now (what makes it so different from 1.5).

BTW, I PROMISE I tried to do a search to find this posted somewhere else on the forum. :)

Thanks! You guys are the best! :D

I was on the fence too about switching to leak 2.1, but I did the update last night and I love it. I guess I love it so much bc I was tired of waiting for the OTA. LOL. Check out youtube like 2.1 on droid eris, there are a lot of good videos on there. That's what I did before I took the plunge.

mach1man you're crazy! You could've had root since you only flashes yesterday. Now I'm regretting doing it because I can't root : (
