Root Anyone running ICS and NOT having heat issues?

Ever since flashing the ICS leak, and running CleanROM ICS ROM, my phone gets ridiculously hot after using it for more than 10 minutes, or so. And subsequently, the battery plummets during this time.
Seems like a fairly common problem. Standby is great. The battery will hardly move 1% for 30 minutes in standby. But if you wake it up and use it for anything more than 5-10 minutes, it will heat up and battery will plummet.

I'm talking 110-120F after 20 mins. Easily >100F after just 5-10mins.

Does anyone have the ICS leak, or an ICS ROM and can run the phone for 20 minutes with temps below 90-100F?

Me.my phone only breaks 100* if I sit it the hot sunlight in on the front seat while driving aaround all day.

I've run all the leaks and my phone hasn't run any hotter on any of them than it did on GB

No heat issues here and I overclock to the max. I'm running CleanROM 4.5 Standard + SebastianFM's overclocking kernel. Temp at the moment is 84F.

I'm confused. I had zero heat issues on GB, and now this. I've tried reflashing, wiping in every imaginable method and frequency, and this is ridiculous! I'd try calling Verizon and complaining to them, but I caused this by flashing ICS.

you might consider then,doing the s-off procedure. it will have 2 distinct advantges:
1)you can downgrade everything back to GB
2)it will change your hboot back to saying locked wich is good should the need arise to return the phone for warranty.

seems like some phones had some sort of hardware fluke,while others have not. i have read about overhearing issues- seems quite randomly same have them,some dont.

I was afraid you'd say that. I really don't want to revert to GB since MHS is broken in it and ICS is much more snappy. I'd rather just use it a few minutes at a time and tether my tablet than go back to GB

Mine runs cooler on ics than gb. Are you in a low signal area? If the radio is struggling to keep a good signal it can heat up too

Just to add confirmation that you're out of the norm, I'd have to agree you may be having some hardware issues. I've been running Ineffabilis Deus on the latest ICS firmware for a few weeks, and my phone stays fairly cool even with heavy use. I'm now trying out Newts OnE XxX RLS 1, still running cool...

I have the heat issue as well. My phone would get so hot in 10 minutes that when I put it back in my pocket, it would make my leg sweat. My understanding is that it has to do with the terrible ics kernel. My temporary workaround is that I have the latest leak ics radios, gbe cleanrom 1.7.5 and incredikernel. My phone no longer gets anywhere near as hot, however my battery plummets all day. I get about 10-12 hours of standby, and about 5 hours of light use.

Another general concensus is that the heat issues have to do in part with the hardware version of the phone. Most people with the issue have xa h/w. And those without the issue have xb h/w.

Ah, ok, good to know. When I look at "hardware version" on my phone, it says "0002," which I assume corresponds with "xb."

Actually if you take out your battery, on the sticker it will say xa or xb. I'm not sure how else to tell.

I actually have amazing 4G coverage in my area. Looks like I need to get my phone ready for a warranty claim

It has to... Look on the phone itself. It should be on the lowest part of the label, just after the p/n: example....

If it's not there, it was rubbed off.

Mine has P/N: 99HNU001-00 A. I have horrible heat issues. 10 minutes of internet and usually at about 108. On ICS running CleanRom 4.5, latest leak 3.14 kernel.

Edit: I'm on hdw version 0002 also. so seems no correlation to "XB"

Guessing this is a P/N revision level? Is there another thread about this?

Ok, did S-OFF and flashed CR4.5
I'll give it a few days but just installing all my apps again got it up to 104.1F

might try going back to GB firmware. the root cause,i believe,for most having trouble is the firmware,not the rom.

you can still run ICS roms on GB firmware by flashing the old firmware patch after the rom.

So I've still got the heat issue on GB with this phone. Verizon sent me a replacement because of the MHS issue I'd been having, and my old phone didn't have a heat issue. The new one still has the MHS issue and now it obviously has a heat issue. Returned it to locked, S-ON to send it in for warranty.

Nope.

This is my fourth Rezound now (still "version A" - was hoping for an XB, just to see!) and it behaves the same.

What do you all think is a good standardized test that we can all compare our results? I've been running Netflix for 30 minutes, since it uses CPU/GPU and LTE Radios and in 30 minutes, it is at about 115F and climbing. I'm beginning to think this is just normal and there are no "cool" Rezounds.
