    Hi there

My email provider is Sky and as far as im aware Sky Mail is hosted by Gmail.

With this in mind can I register my Sky email address as the gmail account and get the push email or will I have to register it as a POP account on the desire and set the phone up to check for new emails ?

Ideally I want push email so if its not possible with the Sky account then I'll have to set up a new Gmail account.

Any Sky users out there who can answer my question ?

    Cheers.

Although its powered by Google I don't think for the gmail app or market Google will see it as a valid Google acct

it definitely needs to be set up in the mail app, not the Gmail app.

You could set up a GMail account, have the sky email forward to it and have emails pushed to your phone that way?

Id love to be able to do this. I have a sky email account as my main email, but it done let me set it up via that main email account. Pop or any other way. Just comes up no. it appears the only way I can do it is go to sky main page. Then log in to my account, then out comes up in a gmail format once ive logged in. then save that website as a favorite.

You need to enable IMAP access in your sky mail acct before you can use the HTC mail app

I tried it on 2.1 and it didn't work. I've just this minute done a factory reset on 2.2 and it took my sky details fine!!

You only need it to IMAP if you don't want the email being downloaded to the phone only. Otherwise POP is fine
