Root anyway to change radio?

ok so i just downgraded from the official gingerbread OTA to froyo (and forgot how abnormally slow froyo is) and the coverage difference is amazing. i suddenly get "4g" or "H" in just about 95% of my apt. with 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 i got 2g unless u stuck in a few spots or sat next to a window. im going to update back to the 2.3.3 (for root) but my question is can i keep the same radio that ihave now since that seems to be giving me a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better signal?

Btw I am rooted
