    No sbf's are pre-rooted.

You'll just have to wait and see if GB ever gets rooted, otherwise there isn't much use for this sbf.

The SBF is digitally signed by Motorola. It's the only reason why the phone will accept it through the bootloader.

Because nobody has Motorola's private key that they used to sign the SBF (and their update.zip files), there is no way - and probably never will be a way - to create an SBF. There was never a rooted FroYo SBF either - you have to SBF, then root.

Until there's a new root for the .596 release of Gingerbread, the SBF will primarily only be useful for people who want to return their phones to stock.

Right now everyone is using the Froyo SBF file to fix their phones. While this GB SBF file can' be rooted, it will still be useful. You have to remember with the official GB out, VZW has started sending out new phones to customers with GB on it.

So if someone trys moding their phone and something goes wrong they will have to use the GB SBF to fix it should for any reason they need to send the phone back. I don't think VZW will believe you didn't do anything to the phone if they sent it to you will GB on it and you mistakenly SBF'ed it back using Froyo. That won't look good.....lol.
