[App help] How do I get emoji on my HTC One

I downloaded the emoji keyboard app from Play store but when i installed it and went into the settings to turn it on the emoji keyboard setting was greyed out.

it doesnt seem to be working

how do i add it?
also i installed google keyboard but that doesnt work either!

Emoji isn't connected to the keyboard. Your messaging app should support emoji. You can used any third party SMS app, they almost all have emoji plugins. Most popular ones are Go SMS, Handcent and Chomp. Recently Textra has been getting popular as well.

I have the same problem with the emoji keyboard being greyed out under language and keyboard settings even though it's supposedly now turned ON. : ( This is obviously an HTC One glitch! I installed two separate emoji apps from Google Play but it makes no difference. The apps don't work either and the Emoji keyboard turned itself OFF when I installed them! I turned keyboard setting back to ON but option is STILL greyed out.

I don't want to use emoji in my messaging app, I want to use emoji on Facebook! Why do I have to use an Apple iPod 5 or iPhone just to use emoji on Facebook? What good is HTC One if it doesn't properly support the Emoji keyboard?

Okay after you download emoji keyboard go into messaging( like your about to txt someone) drag down the top of screen it should show power saver and chooae input method. Push choose input method and enable emoji keyboard!!! Problem solved

Emoji is only supported by certain devices, apps and services. Like if one is trying to post Emoji to Facebook from an iPhone, and if the recipient doesn't have it, they won't see the Emoji. probably just get a load of rectangles instead.

WeChat uses Emoji, and as you have to use WeChat to send and receive any messages, everyone can see it.

I've already stated in post 8 in this thread. Although one might find a way to post emoji codes to FB, say using an emoji enabled keyboard, there's no guarantee that the reader will be able to see it, and highly likely that their browser or device won't have it(unless they're in Japan possibly).

For example this is how one type of emoji coding appears in Firefox on my Mac with OS X Snow Leopard.

Where emoji usually does work is if you're all using the same service and specific software/device. e.g. Tencent WeChat, Apple iMessage, NTT DoCoMo, etc.
