[App help] Why does Traffic widget disappear once Maps upgraded?

I just got HTC One phone for Verizon. Noticed a 1x1 Traffic Widget and wanted to see what it was. When you add to screen, you need to name widget and provide a destinations address. It then adds as "green" (or yellow/red I assume) light with Xmin showing. Clicking on it brings up Google Maps. Seemed pretty cool.

Then my 23 google app updates arrived. I updated Maps and noticed the widget went away.

What's up? Anyway to get it back other than uninstall updates?

thanks in advance...

They could of just gotten rid of the app because they found it useless, which does happen.

The only way to get that back would find a substitute widget on the app market, or uninstall the updates.

I remember it was very limited. I tried it and wondered why anyone would ever use it. As I recall, I think it was mainly useful for people with an office commute.

Yeah exactly, which you know half the consumer base probably didn't even know it existed. A lot of people don't know about certain widgets or take the time to explore their phone to find out.

So I would suggest to maybe look for alternatives to it and see if there is a Widget in the Playstore that would perform the same task.

There was a fuss when the update came out that this widget had been removed. I updated and found out that there was nothing else useful in the update so I uninstalled all the updates and have got the widget back.

If they ever update your phone, you probably will lose both the ability to use the old version and the widget.
