I'm not sure if there is somewhere else I should post this, but this is for all of you developers out there. I would like to see an app or widget that would scroll ESPN news and sports scores across your home screen. Any thoughts, or does this already exist in some capacity somewhere?

Try Sports Tap from the market. It's free and includes a widget that does what you are looking for.

Sounds like he wants more of an ESPN ticker like they have on their station scrolling across the bottom of the screen. SportsTap is nice (I use it), but as far as I know it doesn't do this.

yeah, i dont' know if sportstap does that, i use it as an app, don't know if there's a widget.

that rss link i posted might work if no app/widget exists specifically for espn. based on this screenshot i think it would cover what he needs:

    Screenshot of RSS WidgetBoard

assuming espn has their RSS working properly :)
