app that creates bookmarks to files?

Is there a file manager app that will let me create bookmarks to files that works the same as other kinds of bookmarks? I want to specify files in my gesture-based launcher, not just apps. I can't find a way to bookmark files in any of the file managers I've tried (FX, Total Commander, X-plore)

Yeah, I should clarify: you know how bookmarks from the browser can be placed on a home screen as shortcuts to launch a url? I'd like to do the same for files in the file system: open the file directly from a home screen icon. As I recall, Jota Text Editor allows creating that kind of bookmark for .txt files, but I'd also like to have .docx, .pdf, etc. files open directly from a home screen icon.

You could use a file manager like EStrongs File Explorer for creating a file's shortcut to the home screen.

Open ES, long press on the file name and on the pop up menu 'Shortcut' (not 'Bookmark' ! ).

ES works, thanks. Also, File Manager doesn't place the bookmark on the home screen, but the bookmark still becomes visible to other apps, which is what I need.

I use ssLauncher, but I think most Launchers let you just long press the screen to add "Shortcut", then choose your explorer (Solid Explorer comes up for me), and then you can pick any file, then change the icon to anything you want. I do that for my bookmark.html file, but can be done with any file.

Can also just create links within a browser with file:/// (path to file), and bookmark in the browser, then long press your bookmark to add to screen.
