They would have to allow you to install some tracking software on their phones. If they want you to know where they are they can voluntarily send you that info now.

I want the solution in the scenario when they are not able to send me their info personally, and it should not like tracking it should be on mutual understanding.

  4. If they install an app on their phone you can do it. Two examples ...

Android Device Manager – free – remotely track your phone if lost or stolen – remote Factory Data Reset
Android Device Manager (Android) – enable capability on device
Android Device Manager (Website) – control device from website

Cerberus – paid – remotely track your phone if lost or stolen – remote Factory Data Reset – remote take picture
Cerberus (Android) – enable capability on device
Cerberus (Website) – control device from website

MacroDroid has a feature where it can monitor incoming SMS for the phrase "whereareyou"

it will then open up the GPS, then it will reply to the sender of that SMS with your lat/long and a link to Google maps.

it is one of the Examples they provide for you to learn to use the app.

The neat thing about this, is that "you don't need" any special app on your phone, it just needs to be on the phone that the user is willing to allow you to know where he/she is. My daughter said 'NO' and that was it.

The 2nd best thing about MacroDroid is, it does not eat up a lot of battery power.
I can't even tell that it is installed. It does nothing unless it senses that a condition has been met... then it fires up and does 'something'.

I have 11 macros running on my phone, and when it is 'asleep', it can go 24 hours on less than 10% of the battery... I have the 'whereareyou' macro running all the time. the daughter uses it once in a while to peek in on me.... but I have a medical condition and she needs to know.

    Hi Shaktimaan,

I too was looking for same kind of app some time back. But couldn't find one. The apps that are currently available on Google play store don't provide real time tracking and some even consume lot of battery. But recently one of my friend suggested me WizzMe connect, an app which provides real time tracking with minimal battery consumption.
I tried and it did worked. So this app would be an answer to your question.
Try it out and hope it helps for your purpose.

got a chuckle out of the comments on the app.
it would appear they are all from the developer's family :)

As seen from Android Device Manager 's description, it is basically a lost and found kind of app. It will try to locate your device whenever it is lost and helps to prevent ur data integrity. Also it cant track if there is no data connectivity.

But in case of WizzMe, you can have live updates of any person's location and also have an extra facility to track when user's data connection is off.

The problem with just about any app that needs to find a 'lost phone/child/person' is the issue with connectivity, and a view of the sky so that a GPS location can be calculated...

A triangulation off of 2 or more cell towers just is not useful enough for that purpose.

My phone always has the data/WiFi turned off when it is not being used...

and that is exactly why using MacroDroid/Tasker ( other app ) is more useful for 24/7 type dependability. Why? that app can monitor the SMS incoming messages for a distinct phrase "whereareyou" and then turn on the GPS or use the most recent location, and then respond back to the incoming SMS .

Google+ allows you to track your friends. They have to have the app and allow you to track them.

Macrodroid is indeed a good app for making most out of your phone...... But it doesnt provide very specific tracking functionality as WizzME connect as it is specifically designed for tracking.....
I ran it for a whole day and still it consumed around 2% percent of the battery.....
It has feature enabling gps and wifi/mobile data on permission basis as it is done by Macrodroid by sending notification and messages..... (dont know whether other tracking apps provide this functionality)...
Enabling and disabling tracking permissions as required by the user.......
Partial and Full permission kind of permissions giving user more flexibility from whom he/she can be tracked......
