When I first got my Eris I think I used to get App update notifications.
Lately I don't get them, the only way to check for app updates is to go to the market.
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks!

Do you have a task killer?

    Yes?

It is killing your market app

so you dont get the notifications till you open it.

i've personally disabled the notifications because I check it when I want instead of a background process checking all the time. I dont like my phone doing things without me wanting it to do things... (control freak) with the low CPU bandwidth I like to keep it as streamlined as possible.

    Caddy, no Task Killer here.
Checked downloads>menu>notifications and was set to notify.

Mine tend to notify me eventually. In other words, if I never go into market - and I rarely do - I'll get notifications, usually overnight. But occasionally I'll go into the market and find a couple of apps with updates (in fact, that just happened), which I presume would have notified me eventually, had I not gone into the market. (I don't run a task killer/manager, just to clarify.)

I get notifications on mine, but it is pretty random. I remember people doing the whole checkin thing and getting notified of an update for Pandora, but I didn't get anything. I looked the next morning and I had an update notification. At the same time I have gone into the market or checked my downloads and I will suddenly have 2 or more updates waiting and I never received a notification for any of them.

its probably not checking as OCD'ly as some people would like it to... probably due to the fact that it checking all the time would just kill the battery.

Yeah, I'm guessing it just doesn't update very often. Most users probably don't check the market for updates as often as us nerds do. They just use their phone and if they get an update, they probably just ignore it anyway, I know my wife does. I have to update her apps for her.

There is an app called aTrackDog. Haven't used it. But apparently this will find any updates available. Let us know if it works!

Yeah, i haven't installed it. I don't really care for updates in general. If it ain't broke....yadda yadda yadda. Although there is one update Im interested in.
