AppBrain/Fast Web Installer Latest Updates STILL Not Working??

    Hi...

Was wondering if other EVO users are experiencing this problem...

I saw the "news" about the Fast Web Installer being "fixed" with AppBrain in conjunction with the ability to update your apps IN APPBRAIN rather than having to proceed to the Market to do so.

The FIRST problem is trying to install from the web directly to the phone. I KNOW this has been a problem for a couple months but has been supposedly fixed. However, when I sign in to my account online and do everything I need to do to enable on the phone I get the following error at the website:

There was an error sending the app to the phone. Please make sure you enabled it with the 'Fast Web Installer' app and then please try again.

The SECOND problem I have, perhaps related, is with the AppBrain app. When I sync my account and receive notifications of updates to my apps, if I choose to "Perform Installs" IN THE APPBRAIN APP, I get a progress bar that SEEEEEMS like it is working and then NOTHING!! NO INSTALL!! I have to go to the Market to do any any all installs.

Thoughts?? Other people having this problem?? Reviews seem to say that this IS a problem but I just CANNOT BELIEVE the developer would release a supposed "FIX" and have SUCH FAILURE!!...?? Also want to know if it is phone-specific or widespread...

    THANKS!!

I have both of these issues too on my Virgin Mobile Optimus V. Since the device was new and I've never used appbrain previously, I was thinking maybe I did something wrong. At least I know it isn't something I did.

No, it seems you are NOT doing anything wrong. If you're totally new to AppBrain, it is good for browsing. Months ago the app had the ability to download directly to your phone or from the appbrain website WITHOUT the need to going through the Android Market, however, that ability was "broken" with a new Market app release months ago. Appbrain has now said that the ability to download directly is back but apparently it is NOT.

The DRAW to Appbrain's functionality with direct download was great at the time because the Market did NOT allow that direct from web-to-phone download. HOWEVER, apparently, the android Market has changed just in the past week or so to allow that!! I just learned this yesterday and need to check it out:

Good to know...I liked what I saw!! they need to implement a "Share" function within the app though. I don't think I saw it. Appbrain has it...when you're browsing the apps on the phone and want to share the information, just hit share and send via SMS or email or whatever. I didn't see that functionality with the Market on my phone....

Just FYI, the appbrain app got an update, and the fast web installer now works.

No, it still does not - at least for me.

I don't know if this is the same issue, but when I run AppBrain I see a message at the top of the screen telling me that I need to sign in. However, when I attempt this using my Google credentials I am sent to a web page which says "You do not have permission to open this page. appbrain://signin"

This is has been going on for a couple of week on my HTC Eris running 2.1 and it is really starting to become annoying. I don't mind using the Android Market, but I like the Fast Web Install option in AppBrain which is unusable at this point.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the application without any change and feedback sent to the developers goes unanswered.
