Help Apps that are not compatible with 2.2 froyo

I am learning that it can be difficult to pinpoint the numerous problems few people are experiencing with 2.2 because of 1000s of different variations of apps settings etc. I see alt of chatter about apps that are not updated to work with 2.2 being the problem. My situation for example is poor battery life and I can't play music stored on my sd card from any media player. Especially the stock media player, I can't even open it with out my phone freezing. Worked fine before I reinstalled most of my apps after doing a factory reset. So what i am asking is how do you know which apps have been updated to work with froyo? Some apps say they are but most do not
