I'm having some problems with doubleTwist...are there any other good apps for synching iTunes to my Droid (I use a Mac). Thanks.

synctunes or iTuneMyWalkman both work with iTunes to sync songs and playlists from iTunes on the Mac to your non-iPod mobile device.

It looks nice, but as I mentioned above...I use a Mac. This is a PC-only app.

Thanks...will give them a try. I am starting to think there is something wrong with my Droid regarding transfers, and I'd hate to see that as it doesn't have any of the other problems folks are experiencing. I'll post back here if these work.

Mark/Space has released a beta version of their Missing Sync for Android software. It claims to support syncing between iTunes and Android. I haven't tested it out yet, but I did use Missing Sync for Windows Mobile previously. It was kinda bloated software, but got the job done.

I may have to try this, but I've never been a fan of markSpace software. It's usually too pricey and he NEVER has trials, so you have to buy it before you know if it works.

Nothing else recommended here seems to work yet. SyncTunes has been pulled from the internet and iTuneMyWalkman is sooooo buggy I'm afraid to try it yet.

Just noticed on his site that it only supports up through Android 1.6...specifically says it will not work with 2.0 and the Droid.

SyncTunes has been pulled from the internet and there's a statement on his site that it has some serious problems of deleting files on your computer so wants to clean it up first...and he doesn't have time now.

iTuneMyWalkman...I downloaded and installed this, but it's REALLY buggy, and a beta, so not sure I want to risk trying it right now. I'll wait to see if anyone else has luck with it :)

Wow...this thing is awesome, and so much better than doubleTwist. Plus, it works and doubleTwist wouldn't work for me. I love the fact it has that feel of when you have an iPhone connected to iTunes :)

I think I may even spring for the paid version to get the faster upload, but the free version isn't too bad. Thanks SO MUCH for letting me know about this app.

Hmm...may have spoken too soon. I tried checking a playlist that had only 235 songs on it and it got to song number 22 and just hung up. I'll try some different playlists as that one is the one that's been giving me problems with doubleTwist...perhaps there's something wrong with it.

Yup...it seems to be the particular playlist I've been trying to transfer. I tried another playlist and it works fine on both the Salling App and doubleTwist.

The mac version of doubletwist doesn't support the droid. I'll give Salling sync a try instead.

They're saying the latest version of it does...but the salling app Salling is much better if you're a Mac user...the interface is cleaner and it's a simple menu bar app. So far, so good. I wouldn't mind having the faster version of it, but $22 is a lot just for a faster connection to my Droid.

Glad it worked well for you Larry. Yeah, the speed leaves a little to be desired, but the price is right. It also properly transfers all of the album art, which was a major plus for me.

Actually, it still isn't working. I checked in the Salling support forums and he's got a sticky thread on this leading to a small FAQ where he describes it as a problem he still can't fix. He says with the Droid a lot of people can't transfer a playlist with over 200 files in it...and that's about the number I hang up at.

I thought it was a corrupt playlist, but it was just a playlist with over 200 songs. Anything under 200 transfers just fine and so do hundreds of pictures. Just songs are the problem.

I'm experiencing this same problem with Salling and doubleTwist so I think it's a phone issue...not a software issue. I can transfer over 200 songs, but they just can't be in a playlist, so that leaves them categorized in my Droid as only songs/albums/artists, but not as playlists. Major PITA.

    Hi there,
new here - and have been trying out the different apps posted above to have the iTunes like experience on my new droid. It seems that the only app that transfers all of my music from iTunes, including the content I've purchased through them, is doubleTwist. For all the others, it's "locked". Has that happened to anyone else?
It seems that doubleTwist is overall the best app anyway, at least the one with the most iTunes like experience, unfortunately it won't recognize my droid, so I can't get it to work!
    Any help would be appreciated!

I use MediaMonkey and its works fine. I still use iTunes and then just have MM rescan those directories for new music and podcasts.

You need to use the 3.1.2.x.x.x RC with Windows 7 though.

Thanks for the tip. I tried Media Monkey, though, and it turned EVERYTHING into a playlist! I now have over 100 of them on the device, and can't figure out why it did that - HELP!!

Sorry guys, Media Link isn't worth the price (even though it's free):

    1) It choked on my library. I have 16,000 songs and it crashed before it got halfway through reading the list (and was chugging away for 10 minutes first).

    2) Missing playlists. Media link did not show me all of my playlists - just a haphazard sampling. This was with the $29 upgrade.

    3) You can't sync with network shares. For those of you who use network storage, you're out of luck.

    4) Nero customer support does not know the product. Before dropping my $30 for the Premium version, I called them specifically to find out if the Premium version would support syncing with network drives. One Nero rep hadn't even heard of Media Link. Another was clueless but pointed me to the (uninformative) information sheet you see on the website (that really doesn't say very much) Another said that he was positive the premium product would support network shares and took my money. Guess what? No network share support. It took a week and several hours of emails to get my money back.

All that being said, IF the free version works for you, G-d bless.

Anybody know of something else that will sync the Droid with a PC?

Salling... Very light weight program for synching music - and pics if you want. Start it up, it detects the Droid and it detects your iTunes library with all playlists. Tell it what play lists you want to synch and it synchs them. It is that easy, and I have a network drive and can tell you it works fine with that too. Plus... It's free.

I'm currently using the Missing Sync Android beta and it works perfect. Not paid yet (still prompts u to register and pay in the beginning if you want to, yet there is not full version to buy yet? silly). It synced up amazingly well with my droid, it was fast, did pictures and tons of music, also synced my call log and a few other things. Also has wifi proximity sync that i haven't tried (because things like that always make me wary of terribly battery life).

I dislike markspace as well beacuse their customer support is VERY slow. But I also tried doubletwist, and although i liked it, it didn't work and the customer support was good, but all the bugs i reported and such they said ok next release they should be fixed. All good and well, but right now i can not use it. It just hangs up. So I felt like i was helping them debug instead of using a final product.

The one thing i do like about missing sync and markspace is that they sell this syncing type software for all platforms, so they have experience, and although their customer support sucks. They do have to answer to something since they're all paid apps. And in my experience with a winmo phone, a blackberry, and the droid...missing sync just syncs up.
