I picked up the Droid on launch day, and after playing with it for a few minutes, I really wanted to write some apps. I am putting this in the Droid forum (opposed to a more general Android forum) because I like to test code on hardware/devices I actually own, and since I own a Droid and have Android 2.0, there is obviously one device I can test it on.
I am a college student/aspiring software developer, and normally work with C and C++. I know a lot of people have said it is easier going from C++ to Java than it is going from Java to C++, but regardless, I will be learning Java + the SDK over my winter break from college.
I have a few app ideas, but in situations like this, I like trying to start off basic and work my way up.
To learn SDKs, I find it is always easier to just sit down and test stuff out and play around. I am just curious if anyone has any SIMPLE app ideas that they would like to see implemented, so I could try to help people out while I am learning the SDK? If I do get any ideas from here, the apps will be free on the market (once I write them), and you will be given credit (the source code will be publicly available as well).
If you recommend something, there is no guarentee I will pick it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask around. The Android community is awesome, and I would just like to do my part and contribute some basic apps while learning the SDK.
Thank you for any suggestions!
