Astro File Manager

Has anybody used Astro file manager? I've seen some good reviews dated 2010 on the forums, but that is 3 years old. I want to back up some of my apps on mobile and copy the apk files to my tablet to install there.

Anything better than Astro out there in 2013?

I used to use Astro a while back it was decent for doing the backup you are interested in doing.

Any reason why you can't just install from the Play Store to your tablet? I used to have Astro but has since migrated to ES File Explorer. For your purposes however I'd suggest Helium instead if your devices support it.

Thx for the feedback. I'll check helium out. I don't like to download the same app twice especially if it is going to impact my monthly data usage bill - from there the fact that I download to my smart phone, back it up and move to secondary device.
