You can definitely tell T-Mobile's movement is having an effect on AT&T. While still more expensive than T-Mobile, it's much closer in price than they have been.

I may have to think long and hard about leaving Verizon. 10GB of data would be plenty for 4 of us and I'd save a LOT. Of course, I'd need 4 new phones...

Some of your phones may support some of AT&T frequencies, should check it out to see if that's the case. You're looking for 850HSPA or 700 (band 17) LTE.

I have 2 Moto Razr HD's and a Moto X, I'll check those for sure. I'm guessing the older Moto Droid 4 would not be a go but will check anyway.
So, I can get them unlocked (all off contract now) and pop an ATT SIM in?

All 4 of those phones support 850 HSPA, but none support band 17 LTE

So I would get...just no LTE? I could use them for data/voice/text but data would not be 4G? I could live with that until I could replace them one at a time.

Yep, the hardware is there for it. You'll have HSPA which is 3g, but much faster than Verizon 3g. That will likely be speeds of 3-8mbps down, 1-2 mbps up.

Thanks. I'll see what, if anything, Verizon does about pricing now. Ha. Like I think they will. One line is off contract some time this month, the rest are already. ATT is offering $100 off/credit too I think 'til the end of March. May actually be time to do something here!

Verizon also introduced some new plans a couple days ago, but they don't have as much data.

    $45 unlimited talk/text + 250MB
    $60 unlimited talk/text + 1GB

    Verizon page.

Yeah, I have a family plan. 3 lines have unlimited and 1 line has 2GB, I think the most combined data we ever used was 7GB.
My bill, before taxes but with an employee discount is ~$230. If I could save ~$70 a month it would be well worth switching. I know, in general, Verizon's coverage is better but I'm not sure it's $70 a month better at this point. The only one I would be concerned about is the kid, he travels a lot. Still need to mull this over...

I'd agree, the AT&T plan looks like a better deal for you, especially if you manage to keep your current phones.

Another question. The 2 Razrs are supposed to be getting KitKat at some point, am I correct in thinking that if I do go to AT&T they won't get it because it comes from Verizon?

And, I called Verizon just to see what they had to say about leaving and the AT&T rates. The nice lady hadn't heard about them yet but did tell me that new plans 'may be coming soon'. She, of course, was not at liberty to discuss them but suggested I do nothing yet and that I just wait and see. She also noted my account with the info I gave her about AT&T's plan and reminded me not to do anything before calling back, they 'could work with me' to keep me as a customer.

So, only time will tell what just waiting and seeing really means about all that noise...

I'm just really glad I stopped signing new contracts. The market is a-changing again, this time for the better-ish.

This seems like much better deal than their previous mobile shared data.
$130 for two lines with unlimited talk/text, 10Gb data is plenty for that price! I wonder what it would be if data cab is like 4Gb for two lines instead.

OK. I figured from att site that this plan requires next program or bringing your own device. If two year contract, it would be $40 per each phone not 15.

For data below 8Gb, it's 25 per each phone. So 4Gb/month with two lines would be 120=70+25+25. That's not bad.

Does anyone know if I keep my phone after paying Verizon to get out of my contract early? I am considering makng this switch but I would need to sell my phone to make it pay off.

As long as it wasn't purchased on Verizon edge, you should be good.

That may swing things a bit. Although, after talking to the ATT guy, I didn't see any pricing at $160/mo. The cheapest I saw for our family is over $200. If we keep our 5 lines it's around $300/mo including the Next charges for i5s's. That's closer to what we are already paying with Verizon but with only 6GB data and a 2-year contract. I was told that ATT would be no contract. I CANT DECIDE!! :)

AT&T Next is no contract, but you have to pay an extra amount per month to pay off the cost of a new phone. With this deal, the $175 for 5 lines is just for service - phones are extra.

This new at&t plan does not include Next payment. So if I go with Next plan, the pricing difference with Verizon doesn't look that so great as I initially got impression.

Verizon also offers some discount to phone line charge if you are on edge plan. However, they give you discount only for edge plan customers and even that is going away after edge plan period. at&t seems to give discount on line charge as long as it's not with contract.

I'm currently on a GoPhone $60 (2GB) plan - $54/month with Callingmart discounts - and have two other phones on AirVoice $30 (500MB) plans. These new plans sound appealing considering the data allotment, especially if I move a 4th or 5th line over from Page Plus (and replace those phones). But for customers contemplating moving from pre-paid it's easy to forget that the final cost will be higher once all the taxes and fees are added on to this post-paid plan. Can anyone on this new plan in NJ tell me what the bottom-line price is compared to the advertised price?

I just got off the phone with a at rep named Maria. Let me explain what my situation is. I and my son are on the 60.00 no contract plan. I have a gn2 that is unlocked and was purchased used from a at contract customer. Son has a windows go phone.
I asked if we could take these phones and go to the 10gb family plan. She had no idea what I was talking about? Said she would ask her supervisor. A few minutes later. She comes back on and says this is not possible for us? Something about prepaid.
So, I'm confused..Maybe I am not reading their website correctly. But, I did not see any restrictions like this. Did I miss something?

we just changed to this plan last night. we were already on ATT...
    $145/month for 3 phones: GN3, iphone5S, iphone5
    10GB, unlimited phone and texting.

    1. international texting. I think we can text free to other countries around the globe. but what about the responses? I guess they have to pay for texting us back on their plans (international texting rates)?

    2. if we go over 10GB.. how much does it cost?

    3. since this this is a tiered data plan.. tethering is free.. right?

this goes for all 3 phones.. right?

    1. Yep. Costs us nothing to send and receive international text. The other party would have to pay whatever their mobile service provider charges.

    2. $15/GB, iirc.

    3. Yes, tethering is included.
