AT&T, Marshmallow, and Gmail

Since the Marshmallow update on my G900A (AT&T) when composing or replying to an e-mail, text entry starts at the end of the signature block instead of the message area. I can tap the screen to start in the correct place, but it sure is different to how it worked with Lollipop. I've looked at Gmail settings, but can't find any that would correct this. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so do you know a way to get things working as they should? I guess in time I'll adapt, but for now it does prove to be a problem I don't want to have.
