I for one am sick of these ATT vs Verizon commercials...

In my opinion, they BOTH suck, but thanks to the sprint and verizon agreement they have a hell of a network.

They must have updated the towers in my area or something.

When I had my Touch Pro.. the max I would get was 1200kbps.

    Tethering with the hero... I'm getting 2mbps CONTINOUS. I downloaded a 64MB file at OVER 260KBps. It never dropped below 200. That's amazing. 260KBps = 2.08mbps

    WiFiTether shows 2.2mbps...

My sig says it all :)

I guess it really does depend on your location; around the Asheville NC area with sprint (Hero) i would get on average 700-800 kbps; AT&T (and believe me, I'm no AT&T fan) routinely gets 1200-1600 kbps using extremelabs test and other web speed tests. :(
