Attaching photos to text messages

Hey guys, just got the Galaxy Nexus a couple days ago and have accidently caused some problems in it's functionality. I was initially experience issues with with my photo gallery (unable to delete or manage photos). I deleted 'gallery' with the intent of dl'ing a more user friendly photo manager, which I did (smart gallery). Problem now is I can no longer attach pictures for text messaging, email, etc. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

One way, albeit there is probably an easier way, is to use Astro, go to DCIM (gallery may be in mnt/sdcard/DCIM or mnt/sdcard/external_sdcard/dcim), and long-press on the picture you want. You will have option to send however you want.
Someone will enlighten you on an easier way, but I don't know what it is.
