When I "attach" something to my message, it only allows me to pic from my gallery.
What do I do if I want to send a resume in Word format? I can view it, but can't figure out how to send it.

I'm not sure if this works in any file manager, but at least in Astro, if you long press on a file, there's an option for send which will attach it to an email in Gmail.

I will have to try that in Root Explorer.
When I am applying to jobs for instance, it would just be nice to not have to shuffle around the phone to grab one file.

root explorer does allow you to do it. Long pressed a PDF file I have on the SDCard, and in the menu was a Send item. Pressed that and it brought up a whole slew of apps - including GMail.

So I went back to eStrongs, and noticed that if I long pressed the same file, although I cannot see it, there are items that are below the listed ones that I have to scroll to get to. The next to the last one is Send. so I pressed it, and Lo! And behold! - 2 items appear, Bluetooth and GMail.

So, I retract my previous statement - eStrongs DOES support sending files through GMail.

I struggled with this too a while back. There's a VERY easy way to send. Simply open your documents (Documents to Go). Click menu, file, and then "Send via Email". It auto-attaches in Gmail and allows you to compose, add more recipients, CC, BC, whatever. It is very easy, but it took me FOREVER to find it.

good looking out on suggesting Astro... Even if you are in GMail and select attach, it gives you the option of "Astro" or "Gallery"... just what I was looking for...

    Thanks!

So, while Astro does show up as an option within Gmail's attach function, when I navigate to any location where I have documents saved, none of them are visible through the 'pop-up' that Gmail creates via Astro. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm pretty sure this just started happening, as I know've attached Word docs many times like this. I removed Astro about a week ago, and reinstalled today.

Of course, I can choose the 'send' option through any file explorer, but that doesn't cut it when I have an email I've already composed.

    Thanks for any insight here.

    /e

Agreed with all the people above, who suggested to tap and hold the file till we get option to share it thru gmail. However, if we have received an email and we need to attach a file in reply to that email, it only shows pics in galery, not other docuements.
    Any suggestions on that??

I had all the same problems, I'm using cheap 10" arnova for comfortably reading/writing emails ( and, well, the angrybirds:) For documents I'm using kingsoft office, love it overall but haven't figured out yet how to tune it to gmail. After reading the thread, accidentally tried gmail on opera mobile, and vouala! It works, it allows you to attach any file, just as you would on your desktop pc! Ofcourse it rather ugly looking, but I'm sure they are working on that:)
