I'm a car nut, so I figured I would share my video footage the Atrix takes of the road while placed in the vehicle dock.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a day video, but it came out pretty good.

    Uploaded in full 720P quality.

I hope it takes good day quality mounted in the dock.

By the way, it had a 30 min max video length, not sure if that was my 32gb microsd card or the max length period.

Slick! I do a few track events and never considered using the phone, just because the of the mounting logistics. I don't think I even realized the car dock had openings for the camera lens.

    Very cool.

BTW, should be able to record way more 720P video on a 32GB card. Either it was using your internal storage or there's some funky, artificial limitation.

Very cool. But stay in your lane. Just think if another person doing the same exact thing you were doing was coming the opposite way.

But if that 350 isn't fitted with the "Track Package", he's goin' to have some issues. Probably just needs help with trail braking.

    ;)

Haha, that's pretty funny :) Though, you can take just about anything to the track and have fun. I've been doing it for 15+ years and seen people driving bone stock Honda accords having a blast.

Technique can be improved at 5/10ths or 10/10ths :D

Also wanted to add "Stay in school" :D

and the 350z has 18" rays lmgt4's, better brakes, and decent tires, kumho ecsta mx's, 275's in the rear. I'm not hitting anyone or going off the road.

I was driving pretty fast :p

Can't wait until spring so I can bring my Skyilne to the tail of the dragon and use the Atrix to film :)

Do they have a common problem with the sidewalls on the MX? Their ultra high performance summers and barely have a sidewall anyway, their 275/30/18 and 235/35/18's.

I read plenty of reviews and never heard anything about sidewall issues.

I picked them up on clearance from tire rack this past fall.

If I may ask ... do you have it mounted to the window or the dash? I have a 2005 GTO and it has the perfect spot on the dash to mount it but I have not yet decided if I will set it there or the front window. I like the angle you got there so I'm wondering which you chose. Assuming it was window mount.

Just messin' with ya'...sorta. I had a set of 712s (they had issues) a while back, and gave them the blues with my race springs. They were hating me on various off-ramps. Regardless of tire profile, you still have to worry about side-loading forces.

Yeah, a number of folks I know run GoPros (motorports and various watersports), but if you already _have_ this camera, seems like a cooler way to go.

Heck, I was still using an IOPort mount with a tape based DV camera :D

So for all the driving enthusiasts, where are you located? Run any events in the southeast?

There's something coming up at Roebling next month I might attend.

Yes, this is on the window. Nothing touches my dash lol.

That was one of my excuses for being able to afford this phone and the dock, that and that it doubles as a GPS :)

    I'm in the northeast.

Looks great. It doesn't appear to shake a lot like many phone/dock videos I've seen.

On a side note have you figured out how to play music via the aux port while a bluetooth headset is connected and the phone is in the car dock? My music plays over via the bluetooth headset and I can't find a way to change where it outputs.

That's pretty sweet--thanks for posting. It is cool that whoever designed the dock thought to leave a spot for the camera to see through. Awesome!

I doubt they did it on purpose :p

If they did, major props but they should be advertising this all over the car forums if that were the case.

Hahaha, that's pretty funny, it reminds me of that old George Carlin bit:

I'm riding with this guy and he comes up to a red light and blows through it.

"I can't believe you ran that red light!"

"No problem, my brother drives like this."

He comes up to another red light and blows through it too, and says, "no problem, my brother drives like this".

Finally he gets to a green light and stops. "Why are you stopping at a green light?"

"Because .... my brother might be coming the other way"

Imagine if someone was driving normally the other way then.

And besides he was in the middle of the two lanes.

Regardless, if you're going to do this, make sure it's in a school zone.
