I started having an issue a couple days ago (after not making any changes to any settings) where anything with the slightest hint of.bass sounds awful in the car. It sounds fine on headphones, and the same car adapter I use on the DX sounds just fine with other devices through the same speakers. Doesnt matter if I use Pandora or the native music app. What gives? I checked my audio effects settings already and no changes there help. Im baffled because all the things that could be wrong work fine with other devices.

That definitely sounds strange. Can't say that I can help much but I've also had car audio problems.i had an annoying tone played on the background that got louder when I accelerated. Realized it stopped when I unplugged my car charger. I guess by "looping" it to the car between the aux cable and the charger I created some sort of sound receiver? Strange

I use it in the car to listen to music all the time. Ihaven't had any problems with this happening. Could it be your car speakers

Are you using a RF adapter? The thing you stick into the power outlet and set to a radio station? This is what I use and noticed the sound varies and like you said the bass makes it more obvious. Try turning the volume down on the device and then work on your radio volume/eq to try and find decent sound. I had to reduce my volume on the dx, then reduce bass on the stereo and adjust the volume. I also notice you can't listen to it too loud or it gets distorted. I have a decent factory 500 watt system, so it's not the speakers, or radio. It's just that it's like gain on a guitar amp, it's as if your boosting the signal which distorts the sound. The only real option to get great sound is to go with a auxiliary cable.

I'm having the exact same issue.. I have the X hooked up to my car stereo's aux input from the X's headphone jack. The sound is horrible if its turned up too loud, a lot of pops and static. I used to have the Droid Inc. hooked up the same way and it sounded light years better.

I've already tried adjusting the volume on the X and played with the audio effects to no avail.. I've also tried playing with the stereo's eq but it still sound like sh*t no matter what I do.

Maybe it has something to do with the low volume bug on 2.1?

Same issue here as well. I thought I blew out my car's speakers, but once I unplug the X, they sound fine.

I found an option in the Sound and Display menu for Media Audio Effects. I didn't think about it, but in there, you see a Wired Stereo Devices option which has a menu for using differnet presets or a custom equalizer. Maybe playing with these settings would help?

I've tried every possible combination between the media effects on the phone and the stereo's eq. I'm stumped. I have a new X coming because the one I have now has a dead pixel.. I'll report back if the new X is better.

I have the same problem. Switched to X from Eris. Eris sounded like audio honey compared to this. I'm using an aux jack in my Scion xA and 3 ft cable from Radio Shack. Wondering if it is a hardware problem? I am also stumped.
