When I put my brightness on "Adjust Automatically" it just seems to stay at the lowest setting, no matter what the lighting is like.

Anyone know why this could be?

clean your screen - see if it is dirty and affecting it

if not, test in service menu (MENU>BACK>BACK>MENU>BACK>MENU>MENU>BACK)

    SERVICE TEST

    PROXIMITY SWITCH

Located just to the right of the earpiece

    This and that.
    Here
I just set mine to 50% and forgot about it, as I imagine it adjusting itself automatically is going to use battery power as it's having to constantly monitor any changes, where as if you set it and leave it it won't do.

I don't like the auto brightness on the phone, it sucks! I just use my Quick Settings app and have it set in the 20's percentage wise. If you have it all the way up to 100% it also auto decreases the brightness too so 90% is as bright as I go.

I always have my brightness at 100%. It just makes everything look better. If I'm going to buy a phone partly because it has a beautiful big screen, then I want that screen to look its best! I've had the phone on for about twelve hours and I've 76% left on the battery. Guess I'm just lucky with my battery life...

I did have it on 100% but I have sensitive eyes and it was too bright for me, so I needed to dim it

    This and that.

What, you've had the screen on for a whole 12 constant hours?

Nah, don't be daft! My battery aint THAT good! Normal use really, bit of this, bit of that. I normally get 2-3 days of use before recharging.

My 3G is always on, but I only turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS when I need them - not that often if I'm honest, but I do switch to Wi-Fi when I get home in the evening and I have it set to turn off when the screen is off.

I also 'conditioned' the battery for about a week when I first got it, by doing a full discharge and a full recharge a few times. I still do this if I'm staying home and can afford to let it run dry. Some people say that this isn't necessary with newer batteries and they benefit more from regular charges, but I can't be sure. But the 'conditioning' seems to have worked for me and I definitely saw the difference in the battery after having done so.

I have 3G and wifi turned on at all times, along with aGPS too, but I have had these settings since I got the phone, and as I mentioned earlier, it was lasting me over a full day, so i'm baffled as to why it merely lasts me 5 hours now

I'll check the battery graph later on and see the results of last nights charge, maybe there's a fault somewhere

Shame that the market doesn't allow you to sort apps by download date. Then you might have a cat in hells chance of working out which one you've got new or old one updated that is suddenly eating your battery.

Just checked but it displays apps that I downloaded weeks ago, as being installed today

Maybe its because I debranded last night and re-installed using titanium backup.

O BTW, on a side note, I was on T-mobile branded firmware like you, I debranded last night and it's fantastic, finally I can silence my camera shutter LOL but I noticed a major increase in performance. Plus I backed up the T-Mobile TopApps app before I debranded, so I still have that installed now :)

So you can now take pervy pics as well as MrW.

That's annoying for you tho on the app front, mine goes back to the beginning of July, presumably when the phone was in the factory, for a couple of apps and the rest are a gradual progression.

Your Ebo app killed my phone :( sad face, I might download it again over the weekend on to the X8 and see what happens on that. But on the upside, your silent mode on your camera let you snap a pic of some poor drunken wretch laying on a bench somewhere! On no sorry that was my camera wasn't it!?
