Is there a way to auto enable/disable Background Data for scheduled Auto Syncs and anytime the Market app is launched? That way Background Data is only running when an app or task comes up that requires it, then it disables automatically (hence saving battery life). I've seen quite a few posts on this, but if anyone knows how to program Tasker to do this I'd love to see how you programmed the context/tasks. It would be nice if it could be done in a completely transparent way to the user.

Leaving background data on doesn't drain the battery. Battery drainage is determined by the user and how often you allow apps to send/receive data. And whether or not you are leaving 3G and 4G on.
